WHO ARE WE?
Since 1947, Patten (Mustang Survival's sister company, under the Wing Group) has been instrumental in manufacturing inflatable life rafts. Predominantly focused on military manufacturing and government contracts, Patten produces cutting edge inflatable lifesaving equipment. These products include the vast majority of inflatable rafts that have been utilized by NASA since the first Apollo mission, containment in the recent Deepwater Horizon disaster, and inflatable emergency shelters. Originally located in Lake Worth, Florida, their entry into Jacksonville, Florida will bring exciting new opportunities!
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for maintaining quality standards to specifications per the Quality Plan; inspecting products and components per drawings and other supplied information to ensure production and specification standards are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.
• Inspects and approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
• Monitors inspects, and tests operations, and measures to ensure that the product conforms to specification, design, production standards, or merchandising instructions.
• Accepts and certifies or rejects and removes products and/or materials that fail to meet compliance and/or specification standards i.e., lifting, excess cement specifications, and/or improper installation of parts.
• Verifies certificates of compliance, material specifications, etc.
• Ensures records for inspections and required reworks are completed in a satisfactory and timely manner.
• Ensures continuity of inspection and completion of required inspection when personnel or assignment changes occur.
• Documents and notifies the COO of any issue or discrepancies during the shift operation, the testing period, inspection results, product failures, or performance concerns and assists to analyze and recommend adjustments or enhancements to the assembly or production process.
• Records and reports results of inspections and test data.
• Upon completion of testing ensures the product is clean, proper markings are displayed per specifications, and that they coincide with the contract number/star stamp.
• Using a variety of tools, inspects all products both visually and physically, to determine they meet specifications i.e. packaging, presentation, physical appearance, performance, and functionality.
• Assists the packing department in packing and ensuring all parts are included in packing.
• Ensures tickets are forwarded to the quality control office with included contract and serial number, and the date is included on the form check.
• Conducts activities in accordance with established safety and company requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE)
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Postsecondary vocational training or equivalent that encompasses quality control, engineering, technical, and/or related functions
• Bilingual in Spanish
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE)
• Associates degree or equivalent
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• Knowledge of mathematical principles required to perform related technical calculations.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail, a concern for quality control, critical thinking, and a strong work ethic.
• Concentration skills to work for long periods and comfort handling repetitive tasks.
• Skill in critical thinking, capable of analyzing and solving manufacturing issues.
• Ability to interpret both oral and written technical instructions, follow procedures and keep accurate records.
• Ability to assist in the development, set-up, and writing of processes and procedures.
• Ability to measure products efficiently with pertinent tools i.e., rulers, gauges (digital and manual), and calipers, to coincide with the dimension of the product.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to detect possible defects and faults and take appropriate remedial measures.
• Ability to communicate in the English language in both oral and written form.
• Ability to generate effective and appropriate correspondence and generate spreadsheets using a computer.
• Ability to manage one’s own time with the ability to work independently or as a team and a willingness to be flexible.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding and logic to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Frequently required to stand, bend, walk, and stretch for an extended amount of time working in a fast pace, routine, nonstop, high-production manufacturing environment. Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Not sensitivity to latex or adhesives. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, visual color discrimination, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives, and protective eyewear should be worn. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
