Program Description:

Integrated Marketing Communications, a department within the Marketing Division, is responsible for implementing and managing the Museum brand initiatives, designing the majority of products required by Museum staff and partners, editing the Museum website and email communications, and producing a wide range of digital products used for marketing and promotional purposes both in-house and through social media.


Position Summary:

This internship will be part of our Integrated Marketing Communications team. The role will assist with designing and/or updating print and digital marketing and communications collateral, as well as other institutional projects, in accordance with our established brand standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Graphic and production print design for directional/event signage
  • Graphic and production print design/layout for postcards, brochures, flyers, and a variety of other promotional products
  • Digital design for web (image resizing) and social media use (design IG, FB posts/online banners, etc.)
  • Assistance with print production (set up files, archive, etc.)
  • Participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions for upcoming projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a relevant higher education degree, a recent graduate (within a year), or a career changer
  • Ability to work on Apple Macintosh OS platform
  • Demonstrated experience in Adobe Creative Cloud applications: Illustrator, InDesign, AND Photoshop
  • Demonstrated experience in layout design and typography including Microsoft Word
  • Verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous tasks and projects for multiple internal clients/stakeholders
  • Demonstrated organization skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • A printed or digital (i.e. electronic PDF or online) portfolio is required for candidacy

Special Skills: (Preferred but not required for candidacy)

  • Experience with database software such as Asana
  • Experience with animation software like Adobe AfterEffects, Final Cut Pro
  • Hands-on production skills (i.e. making paper comps)
  • Experience with commercial print vendors
  • Photography skills including shooting, photo selection, and manipulation

Location: Hybrid; onsite day(s) location: 1 Science Park Boston, MA. Note: The Museum will supply technology (e.g. laptop and software) required for this position for hybrid schedule)


Length of Internship: Fall semester Sept.- Dec. 2022


Work Schedule: 2-3 full days a week (14-28 working hours with an unpaid lunch hour each day) between Monday-Friday 9a-5p. Hybrid options: If 2 days a week, 1 office/1 work from home (wfh); if 3 days a week, 2 office/1 wfh.

  • Note: The Museum will supply the technology (e.g. laptop and software) required for this position for a hybrid schedule)

Pay Rate: $14.25 for undergraduates, $14.50 for individuals who have graduated a higher education program.
