ENTRY REQUIREMENTSA Masters degree in clinical or counseling psychology. A Limited License to practice Psychology in the State of Michigan Experience in a Pain Management or Rehabilitation setting. Experience with biofeedback and hypnotherapy preferred.

Eligible for full privileges at Munson Medical Center. Is a self-directed professional with the ability to make independent judgments in providing behavioral health services. Demonstrates ability in using the computer with Windows format preferred.

ORGANIZATIONProgram Clinical Psychologist will consult and cooperate with the Program Service Line Director. May receive direction from the Program Medical Director, Program Service Line Director and / or Program Unit Manager. Works collaboratively with physicians and all members of the Patient Care Team.

Participates as a part of the Program interdisciplinary team. Assessment Collects behavioral health data in a systematic and ongoing manner involving the patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate. Determines the priority of data collection based on the patient's immediate condition or needs. Dictates reports within 24 hours of service.Is available for client crisis intervention and emergent assessment.

Diagnosis Derives psychological diagnoses from the assessment data. Validates with the patient, family, and/or other healthcare providers, if appropriate, and documents data and diagnoses. Utilizes complex data and information obtained during the interview in identifying psychological diagnosis.

Identification of Outcomes Determines outcomes that are culturally appropriate, realistic, attainable and measurable. Involves the patient, family, and other healthcare providers in formulating outcomes from the diagnosis that are individualized and includes a time estimate for attainment.Documents expected outcomes as measurable goals.Supports the use of clinical guidelines linked to positive patient outcomes. Identifies expected outcomes that incorporate clinical and cost effectiveness, patient satisfaction, and continuity and consistency among providers.

Planning Utilizes complex data and information obtained during the interview in identifying psychological diagnosis. Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of organizational systems that support the planning process. Implementation Assists physicians, nurse practitioners and staff in the development and implementation of patient treatment plans and ongoing monitoring of patient compliance and progress.Facilitates utilization of systems and community resources to implement the plan.Supports collaboration with other disciplines to implement the plan.

Coordinates system and community resources that enhance delivery of care across continuums. Meets department productivity requirements and independently monitors own appointment schedule. Evaluation Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes and includes the patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate.

Documents the patient's responses to the interventions. Makes recommendations for changes or modifications of the treatment plan, as appropriate. PROFESIONAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS 1.

Participates with interdisciplinary teams. 5. Collaboration Consults with and serves as a consultant to other health care providers for behavioral health issues as needed.

Serves as the Program Liaison with Spine and Nerve Pain Treatment physicians. Provides on-on-one counseling and interventions when ordered by physician / nurse practitioners.Participates, as appropriate, in the organization's structures and processes. Participates as part of the program Interdisciplinary Team and foster an interactive relationship with the Team.Partners with other disciplines to enhance patient outcomes through interdisciplinary activities, such as education, consultation, management, or research opportunities.Serves as a resource for other health care providers.

6. Ethics Maintains patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters. Advocates for patients, as appropriate, and assists patients in developing skills so they can advocate for themselves.

Delivers services in a manner that is culturally sensitive and preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. Maintains a therapeutic and professional patient-provider relationship with appropriate professional role boundaries. Participates in interdisciplinary teams that address ethical risks, benefits, and outcomes.

7. Research Utilizes current research findings and current practice guidelines to strengthen behavioral health services. 8.

Resource Utilization Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering psychological services. Obtains authorizations for recommended services, as indicated 9. LeadershipProvides leadership in the profession and the professional practice settingPromotes advancement of the profession through involvement with professional organizations.

Works to influence decision-making bodies to improve patient services. Serves as a mentor for other health care providers. 10.

Other department specific dutiesIs available for Pain Program staff crisis intervention and emergent assessment.Obtains authorizations for recommended services, as indicated Enters service charges and diagnoses codes accurately within eClincal Works . Provides psychological coverage for inpatient rehab nursing unit in the in the absence of the primary rehab clinical psychologist.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
