About the Role

The Unreal Technical Artist will be working daily with the Modeling Team and Head of Visuals to support them in any capacity they may need. They will help to maintain, improve, and innovate the Modeling Team's processes and pipeline by implementing new tools or plugins based on the project's needs. As well as innovating, they will need to be able to resolve technical and rendering issues within each project in a timely manner.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who works well under pressure and short turn around times with a high level to detail. Due to the nature of YouTube, we are constantly working on multiple projects at a time and all of them at different stages. Because of this, you will need to be an organized person who understands our project needs are constantly changing and you will need to adapt accordingly. They will also advise the Head of Visuals in all technical aspects of the project to ensure the team will complete each project by the deadline.

What you'll be doing:
  • Supporting the Modeling Team by helping develop & improve technical pipelines, resolving technical issues, developing tools, automating tasks, working with / improving shaders, and managing post processing and rendering within Unreal Engine 5
  • Helping Production/Camera Team by producing visuals and renders based on real world camera specifications via a written shot list
  • Working with Source Control software and managing / troubleshooting issues with Source Control, as needed
  • Managing pipeline tools and plugins to improve team efficiency and output fidelity
  • Optimizing projects for performance and functionality, with a thorough understanding of how to optimize scenes by reducing scene complexity, profiling, adjusting global project settings and finding the best visual compromise between art & code
  • Utilizing Sequencer and Cameras to produce short, visual demos of the team's work based on provided shot-lists

What makes you a fit:
  • Inside out knowledge of Unreal
  • Experience working with Blender, Maya or other DCC software
  • Excellent understanding of Unreal Engine's Blueprint systems, with experience in Python and/or C++
  • Experience designing pipeline tools for Unreal
  • Experience with performance profiling in Unreal
  • Experience creating projects in Unreal from start-to-finish (interactive levels, game jam projects, plug-ins, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Editor Utility Widget development
