Job Description

Basic Function: With the provided materials and training, build partnerships with companies and individuals to further the reach and impact of Movement Fund. Support and maintain committees for resource disbursement and the development of new partners. Ability to work remotely. 

 

Key Goals: 

  • Complete training and become proficient in development and implementing Movement Fund methods and strategies

  • Within two months of hire, create and support a team of diverse partners that refer an average of $825/month in new recurring donations each business day.

  • Within two months of hire, build and maintain reliable committees to disburse resources and develop new partnerships. 

 

About Movement Fund: Movement Fund rewards partners when they help raise funds for low-barrier grants to grassroots organizations and individuals. Founded in late 2018 from grassroots people of color led organizations out of Madison, WI, Movement Fund founding organizations include the Madison Alliance for Black Economic Empowerment, the Young Gifted and Black Coalition, Council of Communities, Economic Empowerment WI, and Law Advocacy and Racial Justice. For the last 6 years, these organizations have been dedicated to community work at the ground level from racial justice training and action, to eviction prevention for mothers, to business development and financial fluency for people of color. Today, Movement Fund serves as a resource generator for our partners, and makes grants to support meeting needs, building awareness, advocacy and action. Movement Fund is a project out of Opportunity Inc.

Duties: 

Key duties of a successful candidate will include

Marketing and Outreach

  • Promote the awareness and access of the Movement Fund.

  • Increase awareness through online marketing

  • Contribute and support others in contributing blogs

  • Create opportunities for interaction with Movement Fund 

Recruiting and supporting partners

  • Set and maintain a weekly goal for number of new partners

  • Support partners in obtaining and using their referral link

  • Receive and address partner and potential partner inquiries

  • Provide weekly trainings for partner recruitment

Recruiting and supporting committee members

  • Support the expansion of the Giving Committee by recruiting new members and responding to the inquiries of current members

  • Support Giving Committee in reviewing funding requests and disbursing funds

  • Support the expansion of the Partners Committee by recruiting new members and responding to inquiries of current members

  • Support the Partners Committee in attracting and soliciting high level partnerships

  • Support the expansion of the Community Committee by recruiting new members and responding to the inquiries of current members

  • Support the Community Committee in understanding and documenting Movement Fund impacts and understanding community needs. 

Setting and reaching strategic goals

Other duties as required

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following characteristics below.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and partnerships

  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams

  • Experience with social media and online marketing (preferred but not required)

  • Previous customer service/sales experience (preferred but not required)

  • Confidence/Passion for the community and empowerment

  • Dependable access to a computer and the Internet

  • Demonstrated high degree of competency/reliability

  • Demonstrated degree of competency using Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word

  • Knowledge of needs-based resource development (preferred but not required)

  • Ability to work independently and in diverse teams

  • Coachable and willing to learn

  • Ability to apply shared leadership and accountability practices

  • Responsive to phone and email

  • Demonstrated attention to detail

  • 2 - 5 years of community outreach, economic development, and/or working with diverse stakeholders (preferred but not required)

  • 2 - 5 years of fundraising experience (preferred but not required)

  • Associates Degree in a related field (preferred but not required
