Director of Human Resources Description: The Mountain Lodge at Telluride is nestled in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. It is a privately-owned resort on the ski slopes in Telluride, Colorado. Nestled amongst majestic 14,000 foot peaks of Colorado's San Juan mountains and surrounded by acres of pristine ski terrain, our breathtaking resort exudes a chic, yet rustic charm that radiates serenity and luxury. Beautiful guestrooms, suites and private log cabins feature warm Western design, personal balconies and modern lifestyle amenities. Designed with soft leather furnishings, rich wood accents and warm interiors, our mountain accommodations are an oasis of alpine elegance. We are seeking a professional, goal driven individual to direct the Human Resources Department. Purpose of Position Responsible for the overall operation of the Human Resources Department to include, but not limited to, recruitment, staffing, retention, training, benefits administration, wage administration, employee relations, discipline, terminations, workers’ compensation and the smooth operation of the HR office in compliance with all company policies, as well as, all federal, state and local legislation. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities ( other duties may be assigned. Management also reserves the right to change or modify position descriptions from time-to-time to meet the needs of the business with or without notice). Workers Comp: Responsible for overseeing the reporting of all work-related injuries to the Insurance Company, as well as, documentation on the OSHA 300/300a Report and follow-up on each case. Benefits: Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of all benefits including (401(k), Medical, Vision, Dental, LTD, Life & AD&D, as well as ancillary benefits such as PTO, holiday etc.) and the answering of questions from employees regarding such. Responsible for overseeing the administration of COBRA benefits for new hires and separations. Oversee administration of Leave of Absence, Colorado Maternity Leave, FMLA. Plan administrator for our 401(k) plan – process loan paperwork, election changes, and catch-up contributions, for the employees. Responsible for overseeing the coordination of “Open Enrollment” and the negotiation of plan year rates on all Health & Welfare Plans. Administer/oversee pay rate changes & increases and ensure pay rates are fair and equitable in all areas. Make recommendations where the need is established to change based on fair market value. Recruitment: Responsible for overseeing the recruitment, interviewing and hiring function for all areas ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local legislation. This includes conducting background and drug test investigations, preparing new hire paperwork. Responsible for placing proper advertisements of open positions both internally and externally via bulletin boards, internet, newspapers, etc. Overseeing screening and logging all applicants into the system for reference and proper record keeping and calling applicants to set up interviews. Train/oversee “new hire orientation” with all new hires which entails paperwork and the introduction to benefits and the company. Ensure performance reviews are tracked for 90-day orientation period and annually thereafter. Ability to oversee maintain proper applicant flow, set affirmative action goals, write job descriptions, know various recruiting sources, and the ability to interview effectively is essential. Training: Responsible for overseeing all Hotel-wide training programs (including Sexual Harassment, Certified Trainer Workshop, Interviewing Skills, Safety Fair, Progressive Discipline, HR Policies and Procedures, amongst some). Employee Relations: Drive efforts to improve/maintain overall engagement of the workforce – develop and motivate others. Drive efforts to ensure progressive discipline process is fair and consistent throughout the Hotel and guide managers and supervisors appropriately. Examples: Summer Outing, Annual Party, Quarterly all employee meetings etc.). Financial: Maintain department budget and costs Advise on compensation and benefit issues Prepare the annual budget for the human resources department Approving all invoices related to HR and forwarding them to accounting for payment Separations/Terminations : Oversee the coordination of all separations/terminations (i.e.; termination of all benefits, COBRA, Life Insurance conversion, Unemployment, Exit Interview, Health & Welfare, 401(k), etc). Create recording system of all separations and follow through with payroll department Unemployment: Responsible for answering inquiries from the Division of Unemployment Assistance and represent the company in disputes. General : Responsible for overseeing all safety & sanitation standards for the department To keep informed and up to date in all aspects of your job responsibilities Ensure proper maintenance of personnel files Oversee controls within the department regarding audits. Examples include I-9, tax forms, W-4, etc. Required Knowledge and Experience General Bachelor’s degree (Human Resources, Management, Organizational Behavior preferred) Certification in the field of Human Resources Membership/Participation in professional human resource organizations Five years’ experience as HR Director Leadership /Ethics Managing people Professional written & oral communication Planning /Organizing Problem solving Service orientation Team work Other Skills/Abilities Passionate about people, culturally sensitive, develops and motivates others, innovative, energetic, organized, disciplined and focused Language Skills Fluency in English is required, additional language ability is a bonus Ability to read, speak and write English Reasoning Ability Must be able to think freely and make decisions on own pertaining to job responsibility Able to perform duties without great supervision Ability to keep calm, responsive and friendly under pressure Able to handle a variety of different tasks at once as well as challenges that may arise with guests, customers and/or employees Knows when to request help or assistance from supervisor Work Environment This is a very fast paced busy environment Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by The Mountain Lodge Telluride from time-to-time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel Multitasking This position is monitored by direct/indirect supervision to ensure all unit procedures are adhered to. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with The Mountain Lodge Telluride’s rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the Hotel. Employees who violate any rules and regulations or policies and procedures will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 5 - 10 years Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 Annual Bonus/Commission: Yes
