Math Science Upward Bound Coordinator

Department: Institute for Educational Opportunities

Employment Detail: Full-Time

DUTIES:

  • Develop, execute, monitor, and evaluate high school success and college preparatory services to Butte High students and maintain relationships with Butte High staff.
  • Assist in identifying, recruiting, and selecting student participants.
  • Provide project information to Butte High and the Butte community at large.
  • Assist in assessing and prescribing a plan of project services for each participant.
  • Establish and maintain a tutoring and high school relations record system.
  • Work to recruit students, conduct participant follow-up, and meet with school staff.
  • Maintain communication between project participants, parents, and Butte High.
  • Provide leadership for effective parental and community involvement.
  • Prepare individual success plans for participants.
  • Travel and working on some weekends and evenings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, science, mathematics, or related field.
  • Previous experience as a project administrator responsible for student-oriented projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Clear understanding of Montana post-secondary educational opportunities, admissions requirements, and application procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer experience working with culturally diverse people in an academic setting
  • Prefer previous experience supporting secondary students.
  • Prefers knowledge of educational technologies and social services.
  • Prefer experience working for federal grants or in higher education.
