Monolith, headquartered in Lincoln, NE, is excited to announce its search for a Manufacturing Core Technology Implementation Engineer.

Your Role:

The Manufacturing Core Technology Implementation Engineer is responsible for implementing, building systems, and supporting plant personnel of Monolith’s Core Technology systems which are critical to reliable operation of our manufacturing process.
You will be the Manufacturing Core Technology team supporting on the ground at our commercial scale plant activities and ensuring designs in the field are flawlessly executed by partnering with plant teams and providing feedback to Monolith core technology team.

You Will:

  • Ensure the application of procedures and lead the integration of our Core Technology Reactor technology which are critical to operation of our carbon black production:
    • High temperature gas mixing systems
    • Water cooled parts subject to extreme temperatures
    • Megawatt scale arc heating systems
    • High temperature furnace systems
    • Solid carbon conveying systems
  • Manage tasks with minimal oversight.
    • Engage with stakeholders for the integration of the Core Technology and participate in FMEAs, HAZOP's and MoSc as required.
    • Provide timely communication of any significant issues or developments
    • Document and oversee the roll-out and analysis in accordance with our implementation process
  • Relay key operational and outage findings to the Core Technology team
    • Review and communicate documentation and any supporting data
    • Communicate findings and recommended course of action
  • Guide implementation to completion and lead integration into plant
    • Ensure standards are communicated for fabricators or suppliers
    • Coordinate guidelines with execution teams
    • Integrate core technology into work systems to sustainably deliver repeatable high levels of accuracy and performance
    • Identify opportunities for increased reliability or cost reduction
  • Performs other duties as needed.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in industrial facilities

You Are:

  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics. 
  • Strong curiosity for new technology and desire to work with field execution groups to deliver high quality work that support plant operations
  • Work closely with design engineers but have skills to translate difficult activities into work processes that can be duplicated across organizations.
  • Strong understanding precision maintenance work and rigorous processes to eliminate defects from processes.
  • Very Strong hands-on skills with the willingness to troubleshoot equipment and "get dirty."  Has personally been involved in building, testing, and modifying larger complex assemblies and successfully rolled-out into the field
  • “Self-Starter” with the ability to identify problems and provide solutions
  • Experience with experimental design and instrumentation
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines

Work Environment

Chemical plant production site, mostly in-person onsite.  50% climate controlled indoor environment, 50% field.
