Practice Manager

Summary: The practice manager will report to partner physicians to handle operational activities and oversee financial management of a busy ophthalmology practice specializing in retina. The practice is 34 years old with 30+ employees and 4 locations in the Central NJ area. The candidate must have experience managing a medical practice and excellent interpersonal skills to motivate employees to deliver outstanding service.

Primary Duties:

  • Coordinate operations with office managers in satellite offices
  • Supervise bookkeeper and billing department in preparing financial reports for physicians
  • Oversee and contract with vendors who supply services to the practice
  • Attend nighttime partner meetings twice per month to serve as a bridge between physicians and all office operations
  • Suggest policies and procedures to improve efficiency
  • Ability to develop, monitor and implement projects
  • Monitor compliance with changing healthcare regulations
  • Manage practice liaison to promote the practice in a competitive healthcare marketplace

Education and Experience

  • Ophthalmology experience is a must
  • Minimum of bachelor's and preferably master's degree with focus in business or accounting
  • 10+ years experience with at least 5 years in management role
  • Familiarity with medical coding and billing
  • Strong background in operations management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills including QuickBooks, Excel and Word
