Location: New York, NY Company Description:Molecular Templates is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of differentiated, targeted, biologic therapeutics. Our proprietary biologic drug platform technology, known as engineered toxin bodies, or ETBs, leverages the resident biology of a genetically engineered form of Shiga-like Toxin A subunit to create novel therapies with potent and differentiated mechanisms of action for cancer and other serious diseases. MTEM currently has multiple clinical-stage ETB candidates in development including MT-5111, TAK-169, and MT-6402.
Additional preclinical compounds derived from our ETB platform technology are being advanced toward clinical development. Additional information about Molecular Templates can be obtained at Position Overview: Molecular Templates is currently seeking a talented and innovative Research Associate to join the Antibody Discovery Group located in New York, NY. This position will conduct experiments with cell culture and flow cytometry, including FACS sorting, to support our drug discovery efforts for biologics.
This individual will be expected to make major contributions to the generation of best-in-class and first-in-class therapeutics to address major unmet medical needs. This role will contribute to R&D discovery research by performing scientific research and implement protocols as required. The role will provide expertise within a technical specialty required for skill center productivity.
Job Responsibilities: Responsible for experimental design, data acquisition, analysis, and sorting of cells by high-throughput flow cytometry and FACS Primary responsibility for all aspects of mammalian cell culture, including media and buffer preparation, culture initiation, and cryopreservation of cells, including primary cells from commercial and/or patient sources, as well as adherence to quality control schedules for ensuring consistency of cell culture materials Troubleshoot effectively and solve scientific problems; operate lab equipment and is independently responsible for maintenance; interpret and analyze technical data accurately and independently Propose and implement new technologies based on science, as well as overall understanding of drug discovery process Effectively communicate orally and in writing; discuss own work in the context of team and department goals in a concise and accurate manner both orally and in writing Draft and audit technical reports and contribute to writing of publications Comply with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies Qualifications: Master's degree or Bachelor`s degree with two to three (2-3) years of equivalent experience from an accredited institution in related field Extensive hands-on experience with flow cytometry including design, acquisition, analysis and FACS sorting preferentially with BD FACSAria, FACSMelody and iQue3 Experience with cell culture, maintaining cell lines, cell separation systems for the isolation and purification of cells from heterogeneous populations Develop and perform high-throughput screening assays for screening of stable cell lines and clones Knowledge of immune oncology space is desirable R&D experience in an industry setting with demonstrated successes in biologics drug discovery is preferred Reporting Structure:This position reports to the Director of Antibody Discovery--Screening Technologies and will supervise employees, as required.
