Job Description: Position Title/Role: Purchasing Senior Specialist Department: PC & Logistics Department/Purchasing Work Group Reports To: PC & Logistics Head of Department (HOD) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary: The Purchasing Senior Specialist is responsible for the establishment and administration of the Purchasing Working group. The incumbent ensures the production line has a continuous supply of needed parts by monitoring inventory levels and purchases. The incumbent also provides information to suppliers, prepares trial builds and Purchase Orders (POs), maintains purchase information, provides information for status reports and analyzes part requirements. Note: Incumbent will work at the Mobis Alabama Plant in Montgomery, AL until the new Mobis U.S. Alabama (MUA) plant is ready for occupancy. Essential Functions: Serves as the initial point of contact for Supply Chain ManagementMonitor Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process and daily requirement changesMonitor supply chain and shortages within the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) areaMaintain Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) process (MUA <--> Supplier) and conduct contingency planning including; Material Release, Supplier Advanced Shipment Notices (ASN), and Prepayment adviceCollaborate with Production Control (PC) on all trial buildsIssue POs to ensure timely delivery and correct Engineering Change (EC) partsEnsure accuracy of POs by maintaining data in Systems Applications and Products (SAP) Material Master DataMaintain scheduling agreements, source lists, inventory, and other SAP functionsCompile material inventories, materials used, and customer informationConduct and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and quarterly inventoriesProvide requirements and inventory assessments to Suppliers to ensure efficient operations of all applicable module processesManage daily and monthly inventory levels and EC Order scheduleAnalyze part requirements in accordance with the specifications, frequency of use, outside variables, and packaging in order to maintain a minimum stock levelsEnter manual purchase orders as needed for new model year trial eventsCollaborate with Production Control, Logistics, Quality Control and Supplier Quality Engineers on issues and concernsCommunicate with suppliers on current issues and changes (EC, packaging, payments, etc.)Monitor SAP for Goods Receipt GR, Goods Issue (GI) and Backlog statusMonitor all pricing changes and process retroactive adjustmentsReview invoices and packing slips for accuracyCollect and maintain Material index in the Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) or manual reportsDocument and analyze material movement and useComplete the supplier verification and claims process monthlyMinimize inventory levels on balance out parts and submit an obsolescence claimMaintain Material Index System data (System vs. Actual)Collect consumption tracking for material closing and inventory accuracyMaintain supplier portal system contentsFollow up with IT team on SAP system improvementsClose-out Over, Short and Damaged (OS&D) items in SAP so they can be charged back to the responsible partyPrepare and send back damaged parts to the local suppliersDispose of all items damaged by workers using approved methodsMake daily OS&D approval forms to be signed by QC and Production departmentsAll other duties as assigned Required Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or equivalent related experienceFour (4) years of experience material purchasing and logistics transportation Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Ability to work independentlyMaterial purchasing and stock control skillsSolid Accounting, Finance, and Mathematical skillsExcellent Leadership skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPointAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment Preferred Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Industrial System EngineeringExperience in an automotive manufacturing environmentDetailed knowledge of Just-In-Sequence process and system in Automotive industryKnowledge of assembly and manufacturingWorking experience with European Union (EU) supplierSAP (MM module) experienceImport/Export/Customs/Duty experienceCommunicate with CKD control team members in GermanNew Plant start-up experience Working Conditions:75% in office environment, 25% in production environmentTravel to supplier as neededOvertime as neededNote: Incumbent will work at the Mobis Alabama Plant in Montgomery, AL until the new Mobis U.S. Alabama plant is ready for occupancy.
