Job Description

The Network Administrator architects, designs, builds, and maintains the Local and Wide Area Network including servers, routers, gateways, and switches used by the school network infrastructure. The position also provides application systems and database support for administrative and academic application systems. This position provides third level support for all other computer hardware and software systems. This position provides is responsible for maintaining security of the network.

Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Install and maintain servers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Architect, install and maintain spam, antivirus, firewall hardware and software.
  • Work extensively with internet service provider to maintain, monitor and support Internet connection for the school.
  • Design and implement and maintain a business continuity plan for all computer hardware and software components.
  • Choose, implement, monitor, and upgrade computer anti-virus and malware protection systems.
  • Perform risk assessments and tests on running data processing activities and security measures.
  • Recommend new technology to support the administrative and academic programs.
  • Review vendor specifications and recommend hardware and software appropriate to meet the administrative and academic programs.
  • Provide vendor interface to network applications to end users.


  • Bachelor's degree obtained through a formal four-year program.
  • Cisco, CompTIA, (ISC)2, or similar security certification preferred.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience designing, implementing and maintain enterprise-wide infrastructure and applications.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining the Local and Wide Area Network infrastructure. Consisting of servers, routers, internet gateway and firewalls.
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft servers and networks.
  • Excellent understanding Cisco hardware and configuration skills.
  • Excellent understanding of wireless technology.
  • Excellent understanding of infrastructure security including firewalls, antivirus and other schemes to ensure security and safe computing environment school wide.
  • Strong customer service skills and demonstrated responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with end users to deliver strategic solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Business continuity and disaster recovery.
