About the Position:


We are looking for an experienced Professional Accountant who can make an immediate impact on our team and on our clients by providing impressive expertise, skill, and savviness in the accounting function. You will work with our accounting Team Lead, as well as other Accountants and Bookkeepers on the team on the following:


  • Coordinate setup of new client accounts
  • Manage client portfolios:
    • Maintain compliance including tax and other regulatory requirements
    • Ensure payroll and accounting controls
    • Provide ongoing financial reporting, analysis, business modeling, annual business plan, and customer satisfaction
    • Establish gift handling rules
    • Create annual work flow calendars
    • Ensure nonprofit best practices are maintained
    • Execute client service agreement deliverables while maintaining excellent customer service  
    • Identify and solve problems of overages in hours promptly and refer issues and solutions to our Managing Member
    • Oversee preparation of contribution acknowledgments and donor statements, invoices and customer statements
  • Handle transaction processing and follow financial controls for:
    • Receiving and posting journal entries
    • Payroll processing
    • Expense reporting
    • Monthly closing
    • Bank reconciliations
  • Oversee cash and risk management
    • Manage annual insurance renewal process
    • Review and approve contracts
    • Monitor cash flow and advise accordingly
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients and the team
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested

 


Position Requirements:


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) and/or 5+ years prior experience. General nonprofit accounting and payroll experience a big plus!
  • A familiarity with or a willingness to learn about nonprofit accounting and an understanding of religious organizations and non-profits will give the candidate an advantage in servicing the clients


Skills

  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Knowledge of Financial and ERP systems – MS Dynamics GP, QuickBooks, Great Plains and MS Office
  • Budget and financial modeling
  • Computer literacy: proficiency in accounting software, email, MS Office and a capacity to learn other programs as needed

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The following abilities are required for the position:

  • Work at a desk in an office or home-office setting; Sit at an office desk for extended periods of time.
  • Work for extended periods of time at a computer, requiring the ability to send and receive information with necessary optical, auditory, and manual dexterity.
  • Use a keyboard and mouse to enter, retrieve or transfer words or data information and/or move from screen to screen on the computer to view information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comprehend and speak English.
  • Display the reading skills necessary to proofread written material.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.


This position is a remote position located in CA, AZ, NV, IL, NC or TN. Some occasional travel may be required.
