Job Description Miromatrix Medical Inc. Liver Program Scientist II Position Description: Miromatrix’ mission is to eliminate the organ transplant waiting list by bioengineering transplantable organs to bring lifesaving technology to all those in need of a transplantable organ. Miromatrix, Inc. is a biotechnology and regenerative medicine pioneer that discovers, develops and delivers innovative, award winning biotherapies. We are currently developing a liver assist product for those suffering from acute liver failure with plans to bio-engineer a transplantable liver.
Our progress to date was recently recognized as a KidneyX prize winner for redesigning dialysis and as a 2019 Buzz of BIO for Pipelines of Promise. We continue to build our organization and scientific teams. Miromatrix has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual interested in joining our Liver Engineering Program in a fast-paced, team and results-oriented work environment.
We are looking for a talented Scientist II to assist in the development of a novel bioengineered liver graft for the treatment of liver failure and gain valuable industrial experience. Responsibilities: Mammalian (adherent) cell culture Primary cell isolation and expansion Liver ECM graft seeding Culture media formulation and preparation Optimization of engineered livers using advanced bioreactor and organ scaffold seeding Harvest and decellularization of clinical-scale livers Functional characterization of engineered livers Independently lead and track research and development projects Assistance with preclinical studies Innovate through challenging problems and commit to rigorous problem solving Efficiently excel in technical writing assignments Experimental planning, execution, and reporting Literature analysis Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in one of the Life Sciences or Engineering disciplines including Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, or Tissue Engineering Highly proficient in adherent mammalian cell culture with at least 2 years of experience Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are essential Enthusiasm for a collaborative work culture and desire to make a positive impact Desired Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with a masters or Ph.D as well as prior cell culture and cell/molecular biology experience, either industry or academic related. Additional experience in primary cell isolation, liver physiology, biomaterials, liver histology/pathology, and/or the characterization of liver function are definite pluses.
