Job Description

Mirion Technologies is looking for a Senior Accountant for our Buffalo NY site.

This role will be responsible for financial and accounting requirements for the site; accuracy of books and records, including review of all transactions; providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future. The Senior Accountant will, establish budgets, approve expenditures and provide guidance to ensure the financial solvency of the company.

The Senior Accountant directs and plans the preparation of reports to summarize and forecast business activities and financial positions in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations. The Senior Accountant will have the ability to maximize return on financial assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

This role has the potential for promotion to Site Controller with proven performance and strategic ability.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, analysis of financial results, monthly forecasts, annual audits, and annual budgets.
  • Responds to Corporate Finance and Division President/CFO as assigned, with accurate and timely work to facilitate their financial needs.
  • Ensures the accurate and timely processing of all site billings, revenue recognition and compliance.
  • Records Fixed Asset activity and prepares Fixed Asset approval documents for the site.
  • Reviews and approves various Accounts Payable invoices and forwards to the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of petty cash, reimbursement requests, and employee expense reports.
  • Establishes and maintains systems and controls that verify the integrity of all financial data and processes to enhance the company's value.
  • Utilizes the Company’s MRP system (currently Fourth Shift; planned migration to Microsoft Dynamics AX), Host Analytics and consolidations (for Corporate reporting to parent company), Blackline (for Account Reconciliations), and heavy use of advanced Excel.
  • Responsible for month-end close activities for the site, ensuring that 5-day close deliverables and objectives are met consistently.
  • Prepares/reviews Account Reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Supports local management reporting and forecasting process of P&L, Balance Sheet, Net Working Capital and Cash Flow.
  • Performs weekly review of timesheets in UltiPro system; reviews PTO balances and makes adjusting entries, as needed.
  • Prepares month-end entries; develops and maintains POC Revenue Recognition worksheets; prepares payment request documents for POC Projects.
  • Tracks Sales Representative commission accruals and authorizes payments.
  • Key participant and contributor to a major ERP project upgrade over the next 12-18 months as the Company migrates to Microsoft AX.
  • Manages office equipment, copiers, and phone system; liaises with divisional IT Manager and assists with local issues, as needed.
  • Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, auditors and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conforms with, and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 7-10 years of hands-on, senior level accounting experience.
  • Strong financial process and management skills.
  • Knowledge of financial software and ERP systems
  • Experience in a Manufacturing company with strong cost accounting experience and experience in fixed asset accounting, as well as POC standards.
  • Expert user of Excel
  • Solid auditing skills.Strong technical accounting experience and experience in working with Big 4 Audit firms (as a client)
  • Proven ability to develop budgets and track budget expenses.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Lean
  • MBA
  • Experience with MS Dynamics (AX)
  • CPA certification
  • Manufacturing background with experience in project based percentage of completion Revenue recognition
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment with strong cost accounting skills
