Tax Analyst Sr

This position will prepare account reconciliations, collect and analyze transactions and financial information to address various needs, review sales and use tax returns, coordinate payment requests and journal entries, prepare or review property tax returns, support sales and use tax audits, perform testing of sales and use tax system enhancements, document and communicate changes to existing or establishment of new processes and perform and document multi-state sales and use tax research to support company initiatives. Additional tasks related to sales and use tax functions and projects may be assigned as needs arise.

Expected tasks and work assignments
• Review and analyze various tax accounts and transactional level details for various needs
• Monitor and analyze Accounts Payable systems and miscellaneous entries to determine the taxability and monthly use tax accrual requirements
• Participate in monthly close activities by preparing journal entries, schedules and account reconciliations related to indirect taxes
• Facilitate timely tax data gathering to provide to compliance service provider for use in preparation of sales and use tax returns for monthly, quarterly and annual filings
• Collect, analyze and summarize information to address tax audit inquiries
• Perform testing of SAP or ecommerce enhancements and Vertex tax software to ensure proper taxation of sales and purchases
• Support special projects and company initiatives which may include opportunities to work in advanced analytics, develop internal or external reports, identifying and implementing valuable tax savings opportunities
• Research and document multi-state sales/use tax questions, changes and compliance requirements using CCH, BNA and TTR
• Create and maintain documentation for tax processes and internal controls as needed
• Support implementation and establishment of new processes for electronic data warehouse for sales tax exemption certificates

Experience and qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred but not required
• 5+ years' professional experience in sales and use tax and accounting
• Experience researching tax questions and issues
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational, analytical and process improvement skills
• Ability to take direction and work independently
• Composure under time pressure; demonstrated reliability
• Highly proficient in Excel with ability to manipulate large quantities of data; experience with Pivot Tables and Vlookups
• Knowledge of SAP & Vertex

Addional Notes- Must have Accounting background. Top priority qualifications in candidates are: -Huge attention to detail -Comfortable with large volumes of data -High proficiency with Excel -Ability to analyze and manipulate data and draw conclusions -Ability to take direction and run with it but also the ability to ask questions when needed Please no IT background or Project Management background, not helpful.
