OVERALL OBJECTIVE: Responsibility to lead GEF (Germantown Education Foundation) in mobilizing community resources to advance the academic success of Germantown students.
REPORTS TO: The Executive Director will report to the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
WORK COMMITMENT: Full-time (average of 40-hrs per “normal” week), with reasonable travel as required.
ONGOING RESPONSIBILITIES: The Executive Director will: 1. Communicate clearly and effectively through print and verbal forms about GEF’s vision and services in order to raise funds for GEF’s mission. 2. Network with community leaders. 3. Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders as required. 4. See that the board is kept informed on the condition of the foundation and all other important factors. 5. Prepare seasonal events, donor management (thanking donors/sponsors, create/organize contact and giving lists), Process and pay invoices, generate social media posts/content, check in on grant projects and progress. 6. Ensure the Foundation continues to operate under sound financial practices and submits all necessary financial reports to the Board of Directors in timely and orderly fashion as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Success for this role requires: Good verbal and written communication skills including an excellent ability to articulate the vision and purpose of the GEF. Interacting with people in person, in writing and by phone in a professional, confident and friendly manner. Collaborative leadership skills coupled with managerial skills. Proven fund-raising experience. Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. A college degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or other foundation experience preferred. Strong internet and email skills; blogging and social media experience is a plus. Attention to detail. The ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
