Job Description

Come join the ARCHES team and help Veterans experiencing chronic homelessness. This is a grant funded position located at the Tanner Project, a transitional program that provides safe and stable housing for Veterans. The Site Assistant I will support residents with everyday living, which may include assistance with laundry, cleaning, and navigating various resources, depending on resident needs. This position will also support the daily operations of the Tanner Project, which include regular cleaning, data collection & entry, sorting mail and donations, and assisting in keeping the food pantry stocked.

We have multiple full-time and part-time night shift opportunities available: 5:00pm - 2:00am and 1:00am - 10:00am.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); 1 year of case management or social service experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A background check will be conducted for this position. A criminal record will not automatically disqualify an individual from a job, unless there is a specific legal exclusion. MWVCAA will consider convictions as they relate to job duties and responsibilities and consider the length of time since the offense.
  • Food Handler's Card required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • This position is subject to MWVCAA's Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for client-facing positions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • May occasionally require driving motor vehicle to another site or location.
  • Varying shift demands (day/eve/night) may require fluctuations in work schedule.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling computers, devices, and office equipment.
  • Use of kitchen equipment including, but not limited to range, oven, steamer, dishwasher, and various kitchen utensils.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Occasional urgent situations requiring law enforcement involvement and/or paramedic professionals.
  • Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids and malodorous air.
  • Potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other infectious conditions. Face coverings and other PPE may be required.
  • Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
