Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Social Media and Digital Engagement Manager  will support and grow digital engagement across the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group’s existing and future social media channels. As part of the Strategy and Communications team you will help promote Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medicine and the exceptional care provided by our physicians to Kaiser Permanente patients by writing, creating, and editing a variety of content for organic and paid social media. The Social Media and Digital Engagement Manager must be a self-starter with a high level of organization and self-accountability.

This position may begin fully remote and will eventually be based in our regional location in Rockville, Maryland, with occasional travel to medical centers across Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize monthly and evergreen content calendars across channels for paid and organic social media
  • Write, edit, create and post content and respond to followers across channels
  • Analyze and report on organic and paid campaign results including ROI to evaluate the success of the initiative and guide future efforts
  • Actively respond to and engage with our community in the Permanente Medicine voice
  • Be the liaison between other departments and the Permanente Medicine social channels to define content priorities each month 
  • In collaboration with the Communications Director and Chief Strategy Officer, develop and guide physician engagement across new social media platforms
    • Educate physicians and researchers on social media best practices
    • Engage them in using social media to elevate Permanente Medicine and their colleagues
    • Stay up to date on posting practices and content and provide feedback
    • Develop and manage accounts for key physician leaders  
  • Maintain awareness of new developments nationally and regionally and new health care trends as well as social presence of other healthcare delivery systems.
  • Grow knowledge base on latest tools and social media tactics being used by brands and how to leverage opportunities via new technologies and approaches, including, potentially, utilizing outside application vendors
  • With limited supervision:
    • Develop/propose platform goals
    • Create strategies designed to achieve goals
    • Develop and manage budgets for plan and projects
    • Design implement and evaluate plan
  • Oversee design aspects of social media channels to ensure alignment with Permanente Medicine and Kaiser Permanente brand standards. Define the do’s and don’ts of community management, engagement, and response to keep us agile and active in our communities 
  • Work with appropriate departments to ensure all facts and images are substantiated
  • Flag hate speech or online bullying
  • Ensure account information is up to date
  • Interact and develop relationships with our audience across social and digital channels

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is required
  • Five (5) years of professional communications experience, including a minimum of two years of experience in copywriting, social strategy and or community management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of marketing and promotion via high-profile communities on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media channels
  • Demonstrated experience with SEO and third-party tools
  • Keen understanding of metrics
  • Ability to quickly create and edit content in Canva, Photoshop or similar programs.
  • Experience managing live social events and editing videos.
  • Excellent independent judgment and decision-making skills, consistently demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
  • Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Candidate must be creative, proactive and be well versed across social platforms - the tried-and-true ones (Facebook, IG, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube), the ones that are hot now (TikTok), and the ones that are emerging (you tell us!).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a variety of levels of an organization, both independently and as part of a team, with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
