Artificial Intelligence Research (AIR) within Microsoft straddles the boundary between research and product. Within the Business AI group at Microsoft is where our team - the Autonomous Systems team - sits, and we're looking for a motivated and self-directed Web Application Engineer 2 to help us bring our Machine Teaching platform to life. In this role, you’ll be directly responsible for helping us build out a new class of developer tool.
With a focus on autonomous systems, robotics, and industrial control applications, the Autonomous Systems team is focused on building the "brains" behind autonomous systems by combining distributed cloud-based AI training with real world, field deployable models. Our platform allows those who do not have a background in AI to define solutions and train them against simulation environments.
Within Autonomous Systems, the front-end team specifically works on all of the user-facing components of this system. We strive to bring innovative and easy-to-use solutions to a complex problem space in a new and rapidly evolving field.

As a member of the front-end team here, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing user-facing features.
- Fixing issues that arise with the system.
- Working with designers, product managers and other engineering teams to identify solutions in the problem space.
Independent study of machine teaching problems.
- Writing example code to utilize the system.
- 1+ years of professional software development experience
The below are absolutely not required to be successful in this role, but may help expedite your ramp:
- Experience with React and the node ecosystem.
- Experience taking a Web Application from concept to deployment.
- Experience with d3 or other data visualization frameworks.
- Experience with Python and/or C#/C++.
