Job Description

As a Software Development Manager, you will be managing and technically leading a team of engineers developing complex product manufacturing platform for current and next generation storage platforms and controllers. In this role you will be driving the next generation of Product Manufacturing Software into the contract manufacture and also supporting other groups that need to leverage the existing test platform. This internal product focuses on solutions that leverage Microchip developed complex ASICs that have high speed interfaces such as PCIe Gen2/3/4/5, DDR2/3/4, 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet, SAS/SATA 3G/6G/12G/24G and are primarily intended to be used in Storage Applications but can span several vertical markets. A successful candidate will be a key player in the advancement of Microchips strategic product direction. The Manager must have excellent technical skills and excellent team management skills. Essential skills must include experience in developing scalable teams onshore and offshore.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop strong, scalable engineering teams.
  • Managing all aspects of Product Manufacturing Software Platform.
  • Managing Architecture, Design and Development, for Product Manufacturing Software.
  • Responsible for managing the design teams onshore and offshore such as Canada, Israel and Bangalore.
  • Key interface between Program Management, Hardware Engineering and Operations.
  • Review the yield data for qualification and pilot builds
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience in Software team management
  • 3+ years' experience object-oriented design using C++.
  • 8+ years' experience embedded firmware development in C.
  • 8+ years' experience with multithreaded applications and embedded RTOS's. Semaphores, threads, interrupts service routines, timers, memory management, virtual memory, caching, context switching, etc.
  • 8+ years' experience functional test development, ranging from basic connectivity testing to full stress tests.
  • Strong hardware background, able to read schematic diagrams. Solid comprehension of how software interact with the hardware.
  • Working Knowledge of basic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logical analyzers, probes.
  • Working knowledge of basic debug equipment such as emulators and debuggers.
  • Working knowledge of common computer hardware interfaces and busses such as PCI Express. I2C, SPI, DDR.
  • Programming experience with various common devices such as flash, DDR, sensors, protocol controllers, etc.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills and the ability to proactively solve issues.
  • Excellent teamwork and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in complex high-speed design and layout.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferred Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 12+ years industry related experience.
  • Manage using Agile JIRA methodology.
  • Ready to be hands-on to drive architecture, resolution. Involve in code review process.
  • Engineering Proto Board to Production Experience with embedded software.
  • Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Exceptional skills influencing, teaming, and delivering solutions in a highly complex, always changing, and sometimes nebulous environment.
