Job Description

MicroHealth is seeking a Technical Lead/Senior Java Developer. This position is supporting our client at our headquarters in Vienna, VA.

This project is supporting a high-profile application used across the entire Federal government and by millions of users.

We are the prime on this effort!

This position will support Information Technology (IT) services to host, operate, maintain, support, enhance, and modernize customer system. The platform operates 24/7 with monthly scheduled maintenance and is mature and processes millions of opportunity searches and hundreds of thousands of applications annually. Incumbent will be part of the team responsible for overseeing all operational and enhancement activities – including program management, system operation and maintenance, system development and integration, system verification, helpdesk operations, website maintenance, and program communications/outreach.

The current IT Services (ITS) team is responsible for system operations and maintenance, system development and integration, system testing, tier 2/3 user support, website maintenance, and support for some program planning and outreach activities. The Program Technical Support (PTS) team is responsible for independent verification and validation of ITS deliverables (including acceptance testing), technical management support (e.g., capital planning and system change management), and IT program management support. The Contact Center team is responsible for Tier 1/2 user support.

Objective:

Ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Technology:

  • Technology stack: Oracle Weblogic, Java/EE, JSF, WebServices (SOAP, REST), Hibernate, Oracle RDBMS, NodeJS, MongoDB, SOLR
  • Architecture: three-tier web application

Responsibilities:

  • Along with the Chief Architect, lead and coach the development team, as a champion of coding quality, principles, and standards. Promote the use of best practices and tools.
  • Lead design reviews and code reviews.
  • Participate in daily stand-up/Scrum meetings, as well as post-Scrum problem-solving meetings with the Chief Architect, developers, business analysts, and Quality Assurance (QA) team.
  • Participate in joint application development (JAD) sessions with customer stakeholders.
  • Design and develop new features and enhancements to server code and user interfaces of a high-profile, internet-facing, web application, and provide guidance to other developers, as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues in functionality, performance, or security, and provide guidance to other developers, as needed.

Work Hours:

The team works core weekday, day-time business hours, but this role may include some evening and weekend hours to meet delivery deadlines. We achieve work/life balance with flex time and work-from-home options.

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

  • BS/BA degree

  • Must have leadership, technical, analytical, and collaborative skills necessary to plan, design, coordinate, and implement activities in all areas of software development, and to guide others.
  • Must have the skills to plan and document work, produce high quality designs and other work products, analyze problems, and recommend and implement solutions and improvements.
  • Must have the communication skills to lead and to collaborate with all software development team members, including analysts and testers, and to communicate with Federal customers.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand.
