Job Description

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is looking to hire a Finance Director to work in our Finance Department.

The Finance Director will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Tribe. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Description: Direct assistance to the CFO, whose responsibilities include planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the finance and accounting activities of the Miccosukee Tribe and exercising the fiscal controls in accordance with the policies & procedures determined by the Business Council; and following generally accepted practices.

Responsibilities: Assist in the development & recommendation of financial policies and procedures of accounting and revenue management and exercise control over the fiscal management systems which have been approved and instituted by the Miccosukee Business Council. Direct tribal financial functions including accounting, budget and financial reporting, internal auditing, banking, safekeeping, cash receipts and disbursement, credit and collection, accounting methods and statistics, investments, employee benefits, payroll, central purchasing and property control. Perform analysis of fiscal policies; interpret data; formulate recommendations for actions by the Miccosukee Business Council. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Tribal Officials, department heads and program directors. Communicate with program directors on matters relating to financial status; grants and contract terms and conditions relating to allowable expenditures; budget development; contract negotiations; and compliance with close-out requirements at the end of the fiscal year. Training of finance department personnel so the department is staffed and functions properly. Any other duties as assigned by the CFO.

Interface: Internal: All areas in the Tribe, Corporation and Enterprises
External: All federal, state and local government agencies; organizations and groups pertinent to the duties.
Parameters (Scope): Provide effective fiscal management systems and data to facilitate the duties and business decisions of the Miccosukee Business Council.

Requirements: Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting/Finance. CPA License. Five (5) years minimum of similar experience. Knowledge of government related financial operations. Strong knowledge of financial planning and reporting. Strong management and people skills. Knowledge of investments and Treasury management. Knowledge of certified financial audits and financial statements. Proficient with different computer programs; experience working with financial software. 
Drug Screen and Background Required.
