MCP has immediate openings for 9 new part-time teacher positions working 20 hours per week for our Adult Basic Education program (ABE); this is a seasonal position in keeping with Miami Dade County Public School calendar with no summer work (Monday – Friday 9:00am – 1:00pm). The ABE program strives to provide and develop warm nurturing relationships, and personal outcomes which is individualized, and guided by the needs of each student. The ABE program integrates programs focusing on self-help skills, functional adult education skills, money management, communication, and sensory stimulation and enhancement. The environment is designed to enhance the individual's desire to learn and to build relationships that promote positive self-identity, progress, social skills, and community integration. The facility Administrator will oversee the operations and staffing of the facility; the Qualified Intellectual Development Professional (QIDP) will work with the teachers and interdisciplinary team to provide enriching programs and activities. The teacher will be part of a dynamic and diverse multi-ethnic inter-disciplinary team including physical therapist, an occupational therapist, speech pathologist, dietitian, psychologist, residential and nursing staff.
Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and/or in the Human Services field; or non-degreed with 6 or more years of verified full-time experience in the developmental disability field in an educational, home economics, or human services setting.

As a Long-term Care Facility (ICF), you will be screened and have your temperature taken daily upon arrival to work. You will also be tested every two weeks for the Covid-19 virus. Additionally, you will be required to wear personal protection equipment (PPE) which includes face mask, shield and other equipment as may be required; MCP will provide you with the PPE. You will also be required to be immunized against the Covid-19 virus. In order to keep Covid-19 out of our residential facilities and keep our residents/students and staff safe, you will be required to sign an agreement to work exclusively for MCP during the pandemic.
As part of the hiring process, applicants will be required to also apply concurrently with Miami Dade County Public Schools. MCP requires all of its employees to be eligible under the AHCA Clearing House Level II background investigation. MCP will be responsible for the cost of fingerprinting associated for the level II clearance.

Miami Cerebral Palsy (MCP) was opened in 1984 by UCP of South Florida (now known as United Community Options of South Florida) to provide ICF/IID (Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities) long term residential care services for children and adults who are medically fragile, non-ambulatory and severely and profoundly intellectually disabled. MCP provides nurturing homes for children and adults. There are four long term care residential facilities located on beautiful, spacious lots in beautiful neighborhoods, with each long term care facility having three homes.
