Our Opening and Your Responsibilities The Technical Sales department of METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem needs a self-motivated, ambitious team player to fill our Technology and Application Consultant role, ideally located in New Jersey. We are looking for people who love science and technology, and excel at building dynamic relationships with people and are interested in expanding their commercial and business skills. Ideal candidates are problem solvers with a strong chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry background who will accept challenges, ask questions, research, and engage our customers. This position will be responsible for providing world class technical sales consulting services to potential and existing customers in the optimization and improvement of particulate process and applications, particularly crystallization. As a recognized expert, you will establish strong peer based relationships with scientists and engineers in the field, while ensuring sustainable sales growth of the business in their region. Responsibilities will include: Execute programs following the annual business plan to develop business and achieve the target sales number Identify sales opportunities for AutoChem products within the accounts/territory in the specified target market and application segments Understand our Key Account program and utilize concepts e.g. Four Constants, HWD etc. to execute both short term and long term business activities Develop strong application knowledge and depth to serve as a recognized expert for process optimization and development in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and academic markets Lead technical sales activities including pre and post sales visits including onsite seminars, technical consulting and application feasibility tests (and reporting) Develop opportunities and bring to technical close for the product line Proactively ensure assigned accounts/territory develops new sales opportunities collaborating with the local sales team through the provision of onsite seminars, technical consulting and application feasibility tests Post sale support of existing customers on an ongoing basis with high level product training and application support to drive repeat sales Create and present technical papers about key applications at industry seminars, conferences and symposiums Develop strong technical product knowledge as well as a working knowledge of competitive and complementary technologies and solutions Identify and develop application solutions that provide high value to the pharmaceutical and high-value chemical markets Support the development and implementation of required marketing programs within assigned region Direct the transfer of knowledge and data from application feasibility studies, industrial and academic applications and technical journals and publications to product management for development Generate excitement about METTLER TOLEDO process development platform within and outside METTLER TOLEDO through enthusiastic interaction Develop strong application knowledge and serve as recognized expert for in situ particle characterization within the pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemical industries Cross selling all AutoChem products aligned with the Six Strategic Value Selling Stories Continue to be a steward for the combined AutoChem technologies (hardware and software) and demonstrate integrated workstation strategy (combined RA, RXE, CSS and PSC) Follow SAP best practice including timely entry of visits, opportunities, notes, 100% lead follow up Support the development and implementation of required marketing programs within assigned account/region(s) Direct the transfer of knowledge and data from application feasibility studies, industrial and academic applications and technical journals and publications to product management for development Rely on business analytics within Metrix Report, Monthly Report etc. while developing and executing business & technical plans for account/regions(s) What You Need to Succeed Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline required; PhD preferred; Minimum of 3 years industry experience: chemist, chemical engineer or advanced degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interest in business development and technical sales Significant experience with various analytics technology and automation tools; Demonstrated ability to work within a cooperative, team environment and focus on individual, time dependent projects with minimal direct supervision; Ability and willingness to travel up to 75%. Ability to travel worldwide.
