Geographic locations in which MMSI currently operates include the U.S East, Gulf & West Coasts, and Alaska. The Corporate Office is in Southern California (Ventura) and its Regional Boat Maintenance Center a technically advanced facility in Woodbine Georgia.

How you would make an impact/key responsibilities:

Join the dynamic MMSI team as a Diesel Mechanic responsible for performing maintenance and repair for the Southeast Region Port Operations for the Navy. This position is located at the NAWC 38/ATMO Key West, FL. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Job Summary: Responsible for safe efficient operation of the ship's propulsion system, ships electrical power systems, all auxiliary equipment, as well as all other personnel directly involved in the operation and maintenance of listed equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for routine operation, maintenance and repairs of shipboard systems.

Supervises marine engineering personnel in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel’s machinery, equipment and systems.

Supervises and maintains engineering department records, reports and material history files.

Supervises vessel repair availabilities.

Ensure compliance with all Company policies and, Federal, State and Local Government Agencies regulations.

Any other duties as required for the Contract performance.

Essential Functions:

Vessel engineering crew supervision. Operations and maintenance of vessel power plant and equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manage assigned engineering crew.

Qualifications:

High School Graduate or equivalency certification. Minimum US Coast Guard license as Designated Duty Engineer of vessels of 4000HP. Minimum 5 years experience in engineering positions aboard similar or larger vessels. At least 1 year of total experience shall be as Chief Engineer of vessels of similar size and horsepower, or at least 1 year of experience as Assistant Engineer onboard similar vessels while holding DDE 4000 license or higher. Must be able to qualify for ordnance handling certification.

What is needed to succeed:

US Coast Guard license as Designated Duty Engineer of vessels of 4000HP

Willingness to work in a dynamic environment

Physical Demands

Light to Moderate. Please refer to the USCG Merchant Mariner Medical and Physical Examination Requirements for Merchant Mariner Credentials (Form CG-719 K).

Work Environment:

At sea, pier side, associated facilities and aboard vessels and craft.
