Senior Financial Data Analyst

The Senior Financial Data Analyst, under the direction of the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis, actively assists in the identification, coordination, and management of complex data and analytical projects. This includes improving existing systems or processes, developing & implementing new systems of automation, and providing on-going operational support across all functional areas of Finance and Accounting.
Essential Functions:
- Conceptualizes, develops/adapts, and maintains financial informational systems. This includes unstructured/structured data extraction with the intent of warehousing structured datasets across various applications (MS Excel, Python, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL) in support of finance and accounting processes. Proactively monitors for adequate controls, compliance, relevance, and improvements.
- Provides business intelligence support. This includes coordinating & overseeing financial analytical tasks with the intent to analyze information, conduct research, and provide recommendations. This would include providing deeper insights into areas of financial behavioral analytics, market/economic correlations, and identifying & developing early warning/watch list indicators.
- Functions as Finance department information systems SME when working with internal/external partners.
- Provides presentations and discoveries to senior/executive management while actively engaging in strategic business planning and decision-making processes.
- Manages necessary documentation and procedures consistent with an audited environment, which includes overseeing procedural compliance with Bank policies, audit controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively develops additional ad hoc reporting and data visualizations to assist management strategic business planning and decision-making. Ability to lead and mentor in these types of exercises expected.
- Develops and mentors data analytics staff.
- Facilitates and oversees other special projects as requested.

Education and Experience:
- BA/BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems, four (4) years’ experience accepted in lieu of education requirement.
- Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Six (6) years of Finance, Accounting, and/or Analytics experience with exposure to information systems, data management, or data science is required.
Summary of Qualifications:
- Advanced analytical application experience with emphasis on Excel. Experience strategically developing and implement complex formulas. Substantial experience developing complex models integrated into systems of automation. Complex VBA scripting experience required.
- In-depth experience working within a relational database environment, writing complex SQL syntax, and employing MS SQL Server Studio to deploy integration, transformation, and reporting services.
- Process management experience with an aptitude to coordinate & lead a team of professionals. Experience with hiring, developing, and supervising staff.
- Project management experience with an aptitude to manage competing demands under stressed conditions.
- Experience working with other third-party ERP/BI systems (Oracle, Domo, SQL Server Reporting Studio, etc.) preferred.
- Banking / financial services experience and exposure to credit card lending preferred.
- Working experience with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions within complex computational environment.
- Responsible professional with the ability to interpret and communicate instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to liaison with senior/executive level management on a frequent basis.
- Independent professional able to manage through unconventional business problems to identify opportunities & weaknesses, form actionable solutions, and successfully implement.
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing; present ideas in a clear, concise, understandable, and organized manner.
