GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Mechanic utilizes working knowledge of nutraceutical manufacturing and packaging equipment, set-up, and repair to troubleshoot and make repairs to manufacturing and packaging equipment with minimal supervision. The mechanic utilizes VOM Meters, some welding and other maintenance equipment necessary to quickly and efficiently complete repairs and set-ups to ensure production is running smoothly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Must have working knowledge of all nutraceutical manufacturing equipment, set-up, and repair. i.e., tablet press, encapsulation, blenders, coating, stick pack and packets machines
Troubleshoot most equipment malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner with little supervision to minimize production down time.
Make most repairs to equipment with some supervision to replace motors, gear boxes, bearings, or other machine parts.
Use a VOM meter, read electrical schematics and assist in making the necessary electrical repairs to packaging equipment.
Read pneumatic / electrical schematics and make the necessary repairs to all packaging equipment.
Use maintenance equipment such as milling machines, lathes, bench grinders, belt sanders and other shop tooling necessary to complete the job at hand.
Performing some facilities repairs, including plumbing, pulling wire through conduit piping, and assisting higher-level mechanics on other facility maintenance repairs, problems, or installations.
Ability to weld MIG & TIG
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Ability and willingness to perform all jobs assigned by the Supervisor.
Responsible for maintaining a well-organized, safe Maintenance shop. Ensuring all shop equipment are in good, safe operating condition.
Must demonstrate capability to perform assigned duties in a dependable and efficient manner when asked by Supervision or to complete an assignment given by the Maintenance Manager.
Follows Merical company policies including: Safety, SOP, GMP, attendance, meal break and harassment.
Report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 3 years' experience in the mechanical field in a mechanic role or equivalent, working with most aspects of machinery and maintenance procedures.
Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently so as to comprehend equipment manuals, information regarding hazardous chemicals and all equipment instruction, warning signs and decals.
Familiarity with using a VOM meter and basic understanding of how to read electrical schematics.
Basic understanding of how to read pneumatic schematics.
Familiarity with welding equipment and processes.
Knowledge of both metric and standard units of measure.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for an entire ten (10) hour shift.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
