Youth Workers fulfill a vital role for our young people. They watch and learn from you. As they grow to know you, they begin to connect with you. They begin to trust. They begin to heal.
Can they be challenging? YUP. Can they be difficult? Weren’t we all difficult as kids, especially during our teens years? Residential placement may be the first safe place they’ve lived, but it's still scary for them.
It’s not easy work, but it’s fulfilling work. We do require all staff to observe all HIPAA privacy regulations. And, an accepting, affirming and non-judgement approach toward LGBTQ youth and staff is required.
Full-time and Part-time schedules are available. Most shifts are evenings and weekends, when the children are not in school. Weekends are generally required. We do have awake overnight positions available at some locations. A 2-3 week PAID training (M-F, 10am – 6pm) is required.
Brief Description of Job: The children in our residential treatment center have emotional and psychiatric issues. Most have suffered devastating loss through trauma, violence, abandonment, poverty, substance abuses, or abuse. Helping our children get stabilized and stay stabilized is the key to them having a good future. Positions are available in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk.
- High Diploma or Equivalent
- Prior experience working with children is a strong plus
- Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record strongly preferred
- EXTENSIVE PAID TRAINING PROVIDED
