This position will work 2 days a week (8 hours per day)- days are flexible. We will work with you on the two days you are available. We would like to have the same days each week in order to schedule patients.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of a radiologist, radiology department of the hospital and the Mercy Clinic management performs sonography exams at a technical level and with a high degree of skill. Performs exams that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. Assist with other clinic duties as needed. Produces two-dimensional ultrasound equipment to assist physicians and providers in the diagnosis of diseases and in the study of malfunctioning organs. Discuss test results with an off site radiologist. Responsible for completing all aspects of patient care to include documentation as required in imaging services. Adheres to all safety requirements for ultrasound and radiation. Processes all required paperwork and has knowledge of ultrasound supplies. Complies with the clinic and health system policies and procedures, and supports the Mercy philosophy of the hospital. Adheres to Standards of Excellence. Provides patient care and/ or support activities appropriate to ages served; primarily adults ages 18-65 or geriatric patients’ ages over 65.
High school diploma or equivalent. Education in ultrasound from an RDMS approved course and able to operate a Philips Affiniti 70G ultrasound machine. Must be fluent in abdominal, GYN, vascular and musculosketetal exams. RDMS registered in at least one category or registry eligible. Registry must be obtained within the first year of employment. Must meet continuing education requirements necessary to maintain registry.
