"By Veterans for Veterans" - Courage to Call is a veteran-run, peer-to-peer support program in San Diego County. Our free services are offered to active and former military members, their families and loved ones. We connect callers with former members of the military who understand the rigors of military life and have made the transition to civilian life. Courage to Call participates in the San Diego County Vet-Fam Forum, a collaboration of community leaders and organizations whose goal is to identify, build and maintain relationships to help offer veterans and their families the best resources and services available.

The Licensed Clinical Supervisor is responsible for all program clinical supervision, clinical assessment guidelines, clinical assessment guideline review, in-service training and clinical consultation to staff.

****This position is part-time, 4 hours a week****

  • Supervises BBS registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Social Workers.
  • Leads weekly group supervision and individual supervision of treatment team to include Veteran Peer Navigators.
  • Provides clinical assessment guidelines, conducts clinical assessment skills reviews and serves as a consultation resource.
  • Provides in-service training.
  • Ensures clinical needs of the Courage to Call clients are being met.
  • Works with PM and other community agencies to identify applicable resources are present at Courage to Call (All Staff) Meetings.
  • Acts as a team member to encourage group discussion.
  • Reviews staff charting for completeness and compliance with agency, federal, state and local government standards of care on referrals, intakes, assessments, interventions, progress notes, community treatment coordination and discharges.
  • In conjunction with the Program Manager, participates in the recruitment and hiring recommendations of new staff.
  • Trains and orients new clinical staff.
  • Participates in public relation activities as needed.
  • Oversees Veteran Peer Navigators client caseload.
  • Assures thorough and concise discussion of each client attending to treatment goals, measuring behavior and progress in overall treatment.
  • Develops and maintains a staff clinical training program. Intervenes for non-open cases in a crisis situation by providing referrals to mental health services.
  • Completes all assigned duties within the time frame and according to the standards as established by the Program.
  • Participates in program quality assurance activities. Assures compliance with a quality standard of care.
  • Ensures accurate and complete documentation on each client. Maintains and supervises a program of quality assurance. Provides comprehensive Quality Assurance services for all client records.
  • Participates in program quality assurance activities. Assures compliance with a quality standard of care.
  • Develops and maintains a staff clinical training program.
  • Intervenes for non-open cases in a crisis situation by providing referral to mental health services.
  • Complies with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards..
  • MHS requires all employees to attain a minimum degree of training and knowledge in cultural competency, co-occurring and gender responsiveness and to routinely demonstrate these traits in every day work relationships.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Participates in the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
  • A valid CA license (LCSW, MFT or equivalent)
