POSITION SUMMARY

Menlo is a multi-site church in the San Francisco Bay area and a member of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. The Donor Revenue Accountant is part of our Operations Team and a key member of our Finance Team. The Donor Revenue Accountant manages all the revenue accounting for donors, preschool, and other revenue streams at Menlo Church. The Donor Revenue Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Supervisor and collaborates with other members of the Finance Team to ensure all financial and accounting operations run smoothly. The Donor Revenue Accountant works behind the scenes to support all departments, locations, and areas of ministry. At Menlo Church, everyone is welcome, nobody’s perfect, and anything’s possible.

The Donor Revenue Accountant will bring specialized education, skills, and experience to help Menlo Church accomplish our mission and ensure good stewardship. This professional will have high-level accounting skills including the ability to analyze, balance, and control General Ledger and Accounts Receivable. This position is responsible for the accuracy of donor giving and critical weekly and monthly reporting. The Donor Revenue Accountant will interact with and provide customer service to donors and other stakeholders, so it is important that you are customer service focused and have the communication skills necessary to assist people in person, over the phone, and through written communication. As an integral part of our Finance Team, the Donor Revenue Accountant may also provide backup to the Accounts Payable Accountant and assist with importing and exporting General Ledger accounts.

The Donor Revenue Accountant requires a high level of understanding, organization, and attention to detail to facilitate the operations of Menlo Church. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Manage all aspects of the donor accounting and reporting requirements by utilizing Vision2, Planning Center Online (PCO), and Sage Intacct accounting software.
  2. Research and resolve payment discrepancies or issues maintaining the donor database.
  3. Support and train staff regarding multi-site campus procedures for collection of weekly deposits.
  4. Process incoming checks and cash, prepare the deposit, and physically take the deposit to the bank.
  5. Identify and return checks that cannot be processed by the organization.
  6. Research and recommend modifications to the accounts receivable systems and procedures.
  7. Prepare backup and workpapers for each General Ledger account affiliated with revenue.
  8. Prepare General Ledger entries and upload activity for donor donations and other non-donation activities.
  9. Process Accounting mail and distribute to Accounting staff.
  10. Maintain written procedures for the Accounts Receivable functions.
  11. Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and intelligently delegate.
  12. Develop and maintain positive working relationships by actively living out and championing our staff values of teamwork and being humble, hopeful, and gritty.
  13. Additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting or related field, and/or minimum 3-years’ relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 3-years’ experience working in the non-profit sector
  • Experience working with cloud-based services to manage data and processes such as Sage Intcct

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Customer service experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • High level Accounting Skills
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices especially related to Accounts Payable
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Proficiency with common office applications and collaboration tools, including Google Workspace, Asana, and cloud platforms
  • Ability to process high volumes of work with high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn new software and programs

Physical Demands

  • Climb up and down stairs
  • Finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds with or without assistance

Work Conditions

  • This job operates in a professional office or church environment with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, and telephones
  • Days and hours of work are generally business hours Monday-Friday with occasional evenings or weekends as needed
  • This position may require extended periods of time using a keyboard
