Memphis Veterinary Specialists is committed to practicing high quality, progressive medicine with emphasis on client communication. Our experienced staff provides skilled technical experience, customer service, marketing and management so our specialists are free to focus on medical care. The ideal candidate is a motivated, team-oriented individual who has a positive attitude and thrives in a fast paced environment. This is a full time position that provides a competitive base salary with the potential for production-based compensation. Employee benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, a retirement match, as well as compensation for licensing and professional memberships. There is an annual stipend for continuing education and available paid vacation. As far as the town goes, Memphis is unique in many ways. The best way to sum up Memphis is this: Memphis is not a medium-sized city -- Memphis is a very large town. However, it's virtually impossible to go to a restaurant, without running into someone you know. Memphis has a much smaller 'feel' than larger cities, or even cities of the same size. Personally, I like the more intimate feel. The city is remarkably diverse. Memphis is the hub of numerous corporations and formidable international institutions: FedEx, International Paper, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Smith & Nephew, UT Medical, Southern College of Optometry, etc. As a result, Memphis draws many people from all over the world. With regard to entertainment, culture, community-involvement, outdoor activities, you can find anything you want (literally). Obviously, the Memphis music scene is legendary. If you are into classic culture, the ballet, symphony and opera are world-class, and have recently made waves nationally with some innovative initiatives. Additionally, Memphis has a world-class zoo, which in 2009 was the highest-rated zoo in the country. The Mid-South region has rivers and lakes galore with plenty of fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, etc. Memphis is also one of the most heavily wooded cities in the country, and boasts the largest urban park (Shelby Farms) in the country – which houses free-ranging buffalo. Shelby Farms is filled with trails for running, biking, dogs (on-leash, off-leash) - whatever. There is any kind of food you could want, and again, the barbeque is legendary. Nearby cities to explore include: Gulf Coast beaches (e.g. Destin, FL), New Orleans, Nashville, and St. Louis.
