Controller

SUMMARY
Directs financial activities of an division by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Establishes, or recommends to management, major economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company

·         Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations

·         Prepares monthly financial statements

·         Responsible for dashboard measurements

·         Calculates and updates standard costing.  Strong knowledge of standard costing required

·         Oversees and maintains accurate inventory, including annual physical inventory process

·         Advises Director of Sales on quoting models, quotes and price increases

·         Advises management on cost savings initiatives and cost overruns

·         Recommends and implements process improvements for administration

·         Prepares justifications for Capital Expenditure Requests

·         Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification

·         Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities

·         Provides management with timely reviews of divisional financial status and progress in its various programs and activities

·         Participates in product quality initiatives and quality oversight

·         Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets

·         Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions

·         Assists in audits of company's accounts. (CPA’s, Revenue Agents, Cost Savings Consultants, etc.)

·         Interacts with the Financial Management team at Melling Corporate Headquarters

·         To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Payroll systems; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet and Microsoft Word.  Knowledge of JD Edwards and/or Plex strongly preferred

·         Knowledgeable of and supports Human Resource, Quality and Safety/Environmental policies & practices.  Strives for continuous improvement in their area of expertise and job function that results in better cost, quality, or functionality of the products we deliver to our customers

·         Promote good employee relations and high morale

·         Demonstrate teamwork and respect by working constructively with co-workers to achieve the best results possible

·         All other duties assigned by the supervisor or department manager

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         This position has two direct reports (Accountant and Data Entry Clerk)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·         Bachelor’s Degree

·         Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience
