CLASS TITLE: Registered Nurse – Detox
NATURE OF WORK
This position is responsible for the daily operations of the Detoxification Center during assigned shift.
JOB DUTIES
- Directs, plans, and supervises technicians and other staff in providing care and treatment.
- Uses clinical judgment in conjunction with physician’s orders and prepares prescribed medication.
- Performs and/or supervises the administration of prescribed medication to clients.
- Conducts nursing medical assessment of each patient admitted to treatment.
- Maintains the security of all controlled drugs, prescriptions and over the counter medicine.
- Utilizes special skills, care knowledge and judgment in providing a wide range of nursing care.
- Confers with medical director in determining client care and treatment.
- Identifies medical and supplies needs and maintains appropriate inventory records.
- Participates in in-service nursing training.
- Perform necessary computer skills using CareLogic and other Agency software programs.

- Serves on Commission committee(s) as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the practices and principles of professional nursing
Knowledge of the care and treatment in providing detoxification services
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to act quickly and use sound judgment in an emergency
Ability to supervise the work of others
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to comply with complex oral and written instructions
Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Products (Word &Office Emaill)
Position duties may require working different shifts
Must have a valid SC Driver’s License and be able to provide proof of insurance
REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and have valid SC RN Nursing License plus and one year professional experience in a substance abuse treatment unit or any equivalent combination of training and experience required
CLASS TITLE: Residential Client Care (SP)
NATURE OF WORK
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Residential Client Care, this position provides proper care, support and education to the residents.
Involves activities that require ability to lift 30 lbs., reaching, climbing and grasping. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing surroundings and activities. The worker is not subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
JOB DUTIES
- Provides assistance to volunteers as needed in the absence of the RCC Lead Med Tech and RCC Coordinator
- Leads activities to assist the residents in developing and practicing life skills in the areas of parenting and homemaking
- Provides direct assistance to the residents to meet their treatment objectives
- Addresses behavioral concerns by implementing therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
- Observes interactions between residents and family units and documents concerns for counselor review
- Transports residents to appointments and other activities off-site
- Duties may require varying work hours (coverage for 24 hours, seven days a week work schedule, day & night)

- Performs related duties as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment modalities that are child and women focused
Knowledge of principles of early childhood development
Knowledge of the principles and practices of client care
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff and referral agencies
Good communication and listening skills
Ability to handle crisis situations, resolve conflict and manage confrontation
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Proficient use of all MS Office applications
Must have a valid SC Driver’s License and be able to provide proof of insurance
REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A Certificate in a related field with two years’ experience; or four years’ related experience (including Peer Support Specialist). Residential healthcare experience preferred. Associate’s degree preferred. Substance Abuse Specialist or Peer Support certification required as soon as possible upon hire.
