The Sr. Director of Product Development PMO has the primary responsibility, ownership, and authority as the leader of the Project Management Office within the Coronary Structural Heart/Aortic Peripheral Venous RD Enterprise Optimization group. Reporting to the VP of RD CSH/APV Enterprise Optimization, this position will partner with the CSH and APV RD leaders and other New Product Development stakeholders to develop and implement an overarching vision and strategy for a harmonized Project Management Office for CSH and APV businesses. This position will be the central-point for communication and coordination of all PMO efforts across CSH APV RD with the following focus:
Build a Best in Class Project Management Office and provide leadership oversight as well as the day-to-day workings of this office. This includes overseeing the full technology portfolio initiatives and partnering with vertical leaders to deliver strategic PDP initiatives. Day in the Life
Functional Leadership- Lead a geographically diverse team of professionals including: Project Managers and Project Analysts, Subject Matter Experts / Business Workflow specialists.
  • Provide direction and leadership to direct reports that includes coaching and feedback, employee development, and performance management while ensuring functional leaders do the same.
  • Provide strategic and tactical planning, ensures that direct reports are meeting project timelines and commitments.
  • Partner with the various strategy boards to formulate and manage to strategic roadmaps.
  • Partner with the project stakeholders (business and technology) to understand the strategic business direction/goals/requirements, developing effective working relationships and on-going management processes.
  • Facilitate communications between staff and ensure focus on continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for selection and development of project management platform and reporting tools.
PMO--Establish a set of specific initiatives with specific outcomes that will move CSH and APV forward towards its goals; drive execution and predictability of product development.
  • Responsible for driving the optimization / harmonization of the CSH/ APV product development processes, project manager roles and responsibilities, tools, and governance. This includes the harmonization of resource planning.
  • Responsible for all PMO-related functions, including actively working with PMO leaders to facilitate effective cross-organizational planning and communications.
  • Ensures maximizing the effectiveness of the project intake process and ensures that all projects are managed within the business' project delivery framework.
  • Accountable for overseeing project communications, identification of issues/risks and escalation of critical issues to senior leaders. Provides recommendations and/or solutions for identified issues.
  • Accountable for championing a broad suite of PMO methodologies, processes and tools in a manner that enables CSH and APV RD to achieve its many strategic milestones and project deliverables in accordance with stated project objectives.
  • Partner with the DRM group to ensure integration of tools and methodologies to drive predictability in the innovation of new product portfolio.
Must Have
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or Chemistry, Physics or Material Science
  • 15+ years of medical device, technology and/or consulting experience
  • 10+ years of strategic project management, business transformation and/or PMO senior leadership experience
Nice to Have
  • PMP strongly preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • Strong strategic thinker capable of understanding the organizational goals and can use technology, project management, and leadership experience to reach these goals
  • Ability to unify and transform
  • Program management experience leading very large, mission-critical programs that involve significant business change and organizational transformation
  • Experience leading large teams in a matrix management environment
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Experience with developing, implementing, and monitoring process improvement initiatives, project management frameworks and methodologies
  • Prior experience leading and managing change effort at senior level
  • Strong interpersonal skills, adept at navigating organizational challenges and possess ability to work with through others and accomplish objectives
  • Ability to establish personal credibility and build trust quickly
  • Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to interface at all levels in the organization
  • Possess a solid working knowledge of continuous improvement maturity assessment tools/ methods
