Location: Fridley, MN (OHQ Corporate) Careers That Change Lives As a member of the Knowledge Center team, the Sr Enterprise Social / Internal Communications Specialist has responsibility to lead internal knowledge management initiatives in partnership with the department's leadership team. Change management practices are an important aspect of this role, with the primary emphasis on managing technical and scientific communities of practices within the internal enterprise social network. This position works closely with community leaders, functional leaders and partners to ensure the flow of knowledge across the Medtronic technical organization with an effective knowledge sharing culture of open problem solving, and learning fast, leveraging Medtronic knowledge workers' tacit knowledge.

A Day in the Life As a Sr Enterprise Social / Internal Communications Specialist, you will ensure that Knowledge Center's knowledge management initiatives meet objectives in delivering the highest engagement experience using supporting tools and processes. Create and sustain an operational governance framework to lead a holistic, engaged, vibrant, online community. This includes creating effective community processes and standards to support an interactive community and culture, ensuring overall community is designed, maintained and continuously improved to meet objectives.
Moreover, this includes employing effective community management practices to ensure a trusting, open knowledge-sharing culture of engagement. Ensure the technical and scientific community at large is represented and participating in this digital work environment to leverage the tacit and implicit knowledge across the enterprise by working out loud, asking/answering questions, having a complete profile, and exchanging knowledge for agile innovation. Consult and guide community leaders, functional groups, and employees to establish best practices related to effective engagement, and associated strategies to encourage working in new ways to optimize internal knowledge sharing to meet business needs.
Engage and support the advancement of Knowledge Center initiatives through projects and activities related to our library, technical development and engagement programs, and other knowledge solutions. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Determines appropriate sources of knowledge to satisfy the needs of Medtronic employees.
Conducts searches, analyzes and evaluates data, extracts pertinent information, presents analysis to promote knowledge flow within the organization. Maintains extensive knowledge of internal resources and continuous contact with local, national, and international knowledge management teams. Maintains and improves information retrieval capabilities.
Assists in the selection of intellectual capital for inclusion in the Knowledge Center repository. Keeps abreast of developments in areas of interest to the company and periodically consults with researchers and other information users to ensure maximum usefulness and service. Must Have (Minimum Requirements): To be considered for this role, the minimum requirements must be evident on your resume.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of Social Media / Enterprise Social and/or Communications experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of Social Media / Enterprise Social and/or Communications experience Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications): Experience in medical device or healthcare industry. Experience in Microsoft Yammer or similar internal enterprise social tools (e.g., Slack, Jive, Skyvera). Experience with change management around the launch and governance of enterprise social initiatives.
Experience with user interface and user experience related to enterprise social initiatives. Experience in enterprise social network adoption, online community manager, and communication within a corporate setting. Ability to effectively work on cross-functional teams and globally across multiple cultures.
Project or program management skills/experience. Medtronic internal candidates preferred. Previous, relevant experience in information or knowledge management.
Strong computer skills including demonstrated mastery of online community management and Microsoft Business Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint preferably Office 365).
