Customer Service Agent
Reports to: Manager/ Asst. Manager
Job summary
Manage data for international shipments and provides support for many steps of the transportation process. The customer service agent works with direct clients, and/or client representatives to execute all the steps required to process the reservation of a shipment. They also provide general follow up and dedicated customer service to the assigned accounts in accordance with customers’ requirements and MSC’s policies. Facilitates the approach between clients and MSC USA, acting as a first point of contact for any inquiry related to the shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the shipment in MSC internal system based on client’s requests and needs.
- Assume documentary and customer service responsibilities for all assigned shipments.
- Act as an intermediary between clients and other MSC’s departments.
- Ensure a monitoring process of the shipment in order that client’s requests are matched.
- Establish and maintains a positive relationship with clients.
- Assist clients in trouble shooting and problem solving with respective internal parties.
- Keep a good level of communication with clients and other parties matching the guidelines of the company.
- Escalate unique or complex issues to the appropriate supervisor for immediate resolution.
- Communicate clearly with team members regarding workload, customer particulars, and problems.
- Liaise between data entry teams and customers to ensure missing information is received and customer’s requirements are understood via Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Update shipments according to customer’s requests with little to no errors generated
- Provide shipment details to customers when requested.
- Communicate with overseas agencies to ensure corrections can be applied and cargo is available for release.
- Work effectively in a team environment to complete assigned goals by department manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Key Competencies:
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (a must)
- Knowledge of MS Excel with the ability to learn new software
- Experience working in an international environment, a plus
- Ability to create professional relationships by providing excellent customer service
- Genuinely provides proactive and cooperative communication
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, good judgment, discretion, and problem-solving abilities
- Team player with professional attitude
- Capable of working in a team setting while pursuing individual goals
- Resilient and proactive attitude with passion to succeed and learn
