The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the assessment of customer respiratory needs and the selection, instruction, and troubleshooting of appropriate equipment and/or services provided to meet the patient's needs.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Documents order for respiratory equipment and/or services from referral source, physician, customer, family member, or caregiver.
Collects additional information and/or authorization if referral is from other than the physician.
Assesses the need of the customer and the best choice of equipment and/or services to meet those needs, involving the customer, family, and/or caregiver in the selection process.
Acts as a liaison between the company and the customer, family, caregiver, physician and other health care agencies and staff on the case.
Instructs customer in proper use and care of equipment according to written policies and procedures for that equipment.
Educates oxygen patients on their disease process and purpose/benefit of oxygen therapy as part of their treatment to help improve compliance to physician orders.
Communicates with patient’s physician on changes in condition and/or needs, carries out adjustment to the customer’s Plan of Care/Treatment.
Completes customer accounts paperwork, including Plan of Care/Treatment, Equipment Contact forms and assessments, and discharge plans for respiratory customers as needed per policy.
Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program and a licensed practitioner.
Two-year hospital based respiratory care and one-year home care experience preferred.
Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care field.
Ability to understand respiratory implications of industry change.
Excellent communication (orally and in writing), telephone and customer relation skills.
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills (a team player).
Normal office/clerical motor skills in addition to extensive computer and telephone usage.
Must be able to perform extensive driving as required for the position
Must possess a valid driver’s license
