SUBSCRIPTION MARKETING DIRECTOR
The Subscription Marketing Director will lead subscription audience development activities to achieve continuous print and digital readership growth, meet circulation unit, revenue, and expense goals, and devise strategies that unlock sales, reduce costs and develop revenue in all operational areas.
Major responsibilities include:
Developing and executing individual audience growth plans for the Washington Examiner, including acquisition strategies, benchmarks, and timelines for reaching goals. Investigate, recommend and execute circulation marketing campaigns, messages, offers, and other promotional mailings. Supervise creative development and distribution of all materials including, direct mail, sampling, email, web, and social media messaging.
The Director will model and manage both new and renewal subscription marketing efforts and budgeting. In seeking new business, the Director will use channels including direct mail, email, and the internet, among others.
Managing all reader invoicing, renewal, and retention activities administered through our fulfillment partner, including monitoring invoicing and renewal response/profitability to identify trends and pinpoint strengths and weaknesses to maximize effectiveness of series.
Acting as the main point of contact with the fulfillment service bureau, newsstand wholesalers and marketing resources.
Managing all external and interdepartmental audience reporting and communications efforts. Supervise all audit preparation and documentation as necessary. Ensure internal audience reports are available on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, including source and competitive analysis.
Engaging and collaborating with editorial and creative teams to guide strategy to ensure that product content is executed in ways that develop maximum audience and visibility
Desired Skills & Experience Requirements
At least 5 years experience, preferably in a consumer magazine circulation or audience development role or similar environment
At least 1-2 years experience with email, web marketing, social media, and other digital products
Must be able to create consumer marketing and media plans, including tracking the effectiveness of campaigns.
Excellent analytical, creative, and organizational skills to develop new business promotions with regard to circulation modeling, attrition analysis, and renewals -Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills; strong command of grammar, spelling and style
Thorough knowledge of USPS Periodicals regulations and other compliance requirements.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work closely with publishing, marketing, and advertising teams as well as senior management
