Summary Description:

The IT Supervisor is primarily responsible for leading the IT Department team and ensuring that the IT Department employees have clear direction and expectations, understand their responsibilities, and are held accountable for their individual and organizational performance. The IT Supervisor is responsible for the overall technical and service delivery performance of the IT team. The IT Supervisor accomplishes this by hiring employees, establishing goals, ensuring that IT employees are trained, creating systems of accountability, and following the established disciplinary rules defined by MRG. The IT Supervisor ensures that all IT employees perform to the standards set in their respective job descriptions and that IT employees facilitate positive client experiences with internal and external clients.

The IT Supervisor is secondarily responsible for supporting the computer systems used by the users at MRG and affiliated organizations. This support includes managing, maintaining, and optimizing systems assigned to the IT Supervisor. This support also includes managing the help-desk function to ensure consistent service delivery.

Qualifications:

Education

  • BS in Information Technology or Business Management preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 5+ years of IT experience
  • Requires 2+ years of direct IT supervision.
  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Job Expectations

  • Leads and supervises the IT staff and schedules to prioritize work, and to achieve all essential functions provided by the IT Department
  • Assists with the prioritization of IT Department tasks to ensure the most important work is being performed in an appropriate and efficient manner
  • Establishes personal and technical service level expectations based on MRG standards, and ensures that the IT Departments follows those standards
  • Ensures that IT team members are trained and cross-trained in all phases of their jobs
  • Establishes and implements departmental systems of accountability to assure maximum efficiency and performance
  • Meets with departmental staff to establish and monitor performance goals
  • Reinforces MRG goals and objectives to staff while supporting management's decisions, vision, policy, and procedures
  • Hires, promotes, reviews, and discharges IT staff based on job performance and MRG's mission, vision, and values
  • Assists with the planning and development of MRG information systems needs in conjunction with MRG goals and objectives
  • Works with senior management to establish department priorities
  • Assists in administration of the IT budget
  • Installs, tests, maintains and monitors computer programs assigned to the IT Supervisor
  • Manages the ongoing security of assigned computer programs and systems
  • Maintains departmental business continuity efforts, including backups, downtime environments, and high availability systems
  • Ensures that the IT Department documents all system configurations and procedures in such a way that fellow IT employees can use them
  • Confers with clients regarding business needs and customizes technical solutions to meet these needs
  • Confers with clients to ensure that the IT Department achieves its service expectations
  • Consults with management and ensures agreement on system principles
  • Ensures that the help-desk function is serving clients based on service expectations ensuring critical issues are resolved quickly
  • Performs work within established guidelines, policies, and procedures; is integral to the creation of guidelines, policies, and procedures for the IT Department
  • Supports MRG's relationships by communicating with strategic partners and furthering MRG's objectives
  • Backs up the Chief Information Officer if the Chief Information Officer is not available
  • Represents the IT Department and Chief Information Officer in meetings within MRG and with external partners

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of All Microsoft Operating Systems and general practices
  • Knowledge of current software being used in business environments
  • Superior written and verbal skills to communicate with clients, managers, and radiologists
  • Can effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, and Radiologists
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
