Description

Reporting directly to the Manager of IT Infrastructure, the Network Administrator ensures the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the core MedVet functions in delivering the MedVet Experience. In this role, the individual is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network software and associated operating systems. The Network Administrator will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems / infrastructure investments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Performance monitoring, configuration management and fault resolution of all IT systems / infrastructure
  • Work effectively with internal and external resources to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Manage issues through an incident queue, detailing each incident with notes of all troubleshooting steps taken to resolve an incident
  • Escalate issues internally and externally as needed for prompt resolution
  • Collaborate with infrastructure team members to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and process
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to systems configuration, mapping, processes and service records
  • Analyze capacity issues, provide input for strategic planning, business continuity and disaster recovery solutions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years' experience in network administration and infrastructure. Experience in the healthcare and/or veterinary industry is a plus but not required. In addition, this position requires:
  • Bachelor's Degree or combination of related experience and education
  • Professional-level network certification (e.g. CCNA, CCA, Network+, MCA), preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints
  • Excel working both independently and in a group environment
  • Proven experience with security principles and general software management best practices
  • Excellent software troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to understand a complex network with minimum supervision.
  • Competence with testing, flowchart and data mapping tools and procedures
  • Technical requirements
    • Routing protocols such as SD-WAN, BGP and EIGRP.
    • Switching technologies (STP, VPC, etc.).
    • HP Switches, Meraki, Sonic VPN, and F5 Load balancing.
    • Experience with Wifi systems implementation, configuring and troubleshooting highly preferred.
