The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller/Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate is energetic, researches independently, spots errors easily, and problem-solves to resolution. This role requires a professional with an analytical mindset, extraordinary project management skills, and strong communications. This position is located in our Birmingham, AL corporate office.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with USGAAP, including all related review and analysis
Prepare reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts and trend analysis for Income Statement
Bank reconciliations and support of related processes
Preparation/review of journal entries for general ledger, including supporting documentation
Expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc.
Execute on monthly closing schedule and related assignments, meeting or exceeding established deadlines and objectives
Prepare documentation and respond to requests for annual financial audits
Participate in various projects and special assignments

Qualifications & Skillsets:
BS in Accounting/Finance, required
2-4 years of progressive accounting experience, required
CPA (or in the process of obtaining certification), strongly preferred
Proficient in MS Excel, including using advanced features such as pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups
Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Team-oriented with ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, and written)
High integrity, and a positive attitude
