Job Description

Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator

The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator is an entry-level clinical position at Med-Plus, Inc. The Assistant CRC will be responsible for multiple functions and tasks including; obtaining vital signs, informed consent procedures, recruitment activities, study data entry, updating the patient database, requesting medical records, filing, and other clinical and general administrative tasks. The Assistant CRC must have the ability and knowledge to communicate well across a wide variety of personnel and roles and complete assigned tasks within short timelines. The Assistant CRC will be mentored by the Lead Clinical Research Coordinator and Primary Investigator.

Duties included but are not limited to:

  • Ability to understand and follow institutional SOPs, Recruit study patients by assessing our regular patients’ symptoms

  • Identify potential volunteers by reviewing medical records and study charts

  • Assist with screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent

  • Update study team often and completely

  • Review and comprehend active study protocols

  • Prepare study binders as directed

  • Maintain study “cheat sheets” that outline primary inclusion/exclusion criteria to use during patient encounters

  • Ability to extract data from source documents and complete case report forms

  • Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents, obtain signatures from required and appropriate personnel as requested

  • Take lead under CRC direction on administrative tasks such as copying, scanning, filing, mailing, emailing, etc.

  • Perform basic measurement and tests as required by the protocol and as qualified to perform such as, nasal swab (COVID testing), blood draws, vitals, EKGs, etc.

  • Collect, process, and ship specimens as directed by protocol

  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies

  • Additional duties/responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Other skills and abilities:

  • Ability and willingness to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to learn to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills and a high degree of professionalism with all types of people

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of medical and research terminology

  • Working knowledge of federal regulations, Good Clinical Practices (GCP)

  • Critical thinker and problem solver

  • Friendly, outgoing personality; maintain a positive attitude under pressure

  • Contribute to team/site goals

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • High level of self-motivation and energy

  • An optimistic, “can do” attitude
