POSITION / TITLE: Temporary Human Resources Generalist

RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager of Human Resources

STATUS: Non- Exempt, Full-Time M-F

Assignment is up to 6 months with possibility of full-time employment

MISSION: Meals on Wheels provides a network of services that allow seniors to live in their homes with dignity and independence as long as possible.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Temporary Human Resources Generalist works closely with the human resources team and oversees all leave of absences and workers compensation claims. The Human Resources Generalist is part of a 3-person team and who will provide overall administrative support in the areas of employment law research, compliance, records management and will assists the Human Resources Manager with recruiting, onboarding, training, recognizing, evaluating, and off boarding employees.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience working in a Human Resources department overseeing leave of absences and workers compensation claims.
  • Previous experience working in an HR department at a manufacturing, hospitality or warehouse environment strongly preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • PHR, PHR-CA, SHRM-CP certification, and/or additional graduate level coursework in HR or business preferred strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity or previous experience working with an HRIS experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates a deep and genuine connection to the MOWSF mission to ensure operational success so no senior in SF is hungry or alone.
  • A can-do attitude and commitment to providing excellent customer service to staff, candidates, business partners, volunteers and clients.
  • Ability to work autonomously and use resources available to complete tasks timely.
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and San Francisco employment laws with an emphasis in leave of absence management and workers compensation
  • Experience managing change in a rapidly changing and a growing, culturally diverse environment.
  • A demonstrated track record of managing and prioritizing multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong professional presence, ability to interact with various internal and external stakeholders and gain respect quickly.
  • Demonstrate ability to appropriately handle confidential information and sensitive situations in a reliable manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise with various databases including Excel, Outlook, MS Word
  • Ability to commit to the duration of the assignment


DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, and in accordance with the provision

of the MOWSF Employee Handbook, the Human Resources Generalist will:
  • Is the HR point of contact for all issues related to leave of absences
  • Is the HR point of contact for all issues related to work related injuries
  • Is the HR point of contact for the workers compensation carrier, broker and treating clinics
  • Enter and track employee information in the HRIS related to leave of absences and work related injuries
  • Working with the Director of Fleet & Facilities attends the semi-monthly safety committee meeting and attends all claims review meetings
  • Completes the OSHA 300 and 300a logs that are due on an annual basis
  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
  • Assists with gathering the relevant NMTC from new hires
  • Maintain and create records, reports, and documentation in accordance with federal, state, and provider regulations.
  • If need is the backup to the HR Generalist regarding payroll and ensure that employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Continuously learn the latest HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned


SALARY / HOURS/BENEFITS: The position is a temporary Non-Exempt assignment is scheduled to work a 40-hour work week (Monday -Friday). Assignment is anticipated to last up to 6 months and could lead to full-time employment.
