Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Marketing and Outreach Specialist will be responsible for conducting outreach in the community to raise awareness of and promote the Adult Day Services Programs (ADHC, ADS and Care Coordination). The Specialist will participate in cultural events and health fairs within the community, along with other team members from Meals on Wheels Orange County (MOWOC). They will participate in community meetings, provide center tours, and facilitate program presentations. This position will work collaboratively with the Center Program Directors and the Inter-Disciplinary Care Team at ADHC/CBAS/ ADS and Care Coordination Programs with the goal of driving and maintaining census the programs.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Works collaboratively with the Center’s Program Director, Social Workers / Care Coordination Manager to implement ADHC/CBAS/ ADS and Care Coordination marketing plan and outreach strategies accordingly.
  2. Conducts targeted consumer driven outreach to Hospitals, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Rehabilitation Centers, Assisted Living/Residential Care Facilities, and Senior Centers,  under the direction of the Program Director.
  3. Participates in community health events/fairs throughout the county.
  4. Occasionally works outside of regularly scheduled hours at events.
  5. Maintains and tracks outreach efforts by utilizing program performance tools and software. 
  6. Works with the Program Director in developing, ordering and maintaining stock of program promotional material.
  7. Prepares written reports and maintain accurate records of profit generated by referrals, new contracts and community engagement.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to cultivate and build positive relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders. 
  9. Be a self-motivated, team player with the ability to take initiative and willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed. 
  10. Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Utilize computer and appropriate software (e.g. Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and job specific applications/systems to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position assignment.
  11. Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Marketing, Public Relations, Special Events Management, or related experience required including marketing principles, strategies, and tactics.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Marketing in a health care setting required. Skilled Nursing Facility preferred. 
  • Bilingual in one of the defined threshold languages (Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Arabic, Farsi, Korean, Chinese) is preferred.
  • Principles and practices of health care service delivery, managed care, health care systems, and medical administration a plus.
  • Medicare, Medi-Cal, and CalOptima knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the culture and needs of the socially and ethnically diverse populations that MOWOC serves.
  • Excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrates a “can-do” spirit, a sense of optimism, and commitment.
  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills required.
  • Ability to identify client/patient and family needs and connect client to appropriate resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

 PHYSICAL and OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass a physical examination and obtain a tuberculosis clearance.
  • Must have current certification in CPR and First Aid training.
  • Frequently operates equipment, computers, or tools.
  • Frequently extends body, arms or hands as needed to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends needed to complete essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Constantly speaks, communicates, interprets or exchanges information accurately.
  • Constantly perceives objects over moderate or long distances, with or without accommodation.
  • Occasionally distinguishes differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors and odors.
  • Occasionally moves, transports, and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
