Current Need

We are seeking an AR Billing and Collections Specialist to join our team in Cary, NC.

Position Description

The AR Billing and Collection Specialist will be focused on analyzing past due insurance and patient account balance and coordinating between third party payers and internal parties to resolve payment discrepancies and delayed payments.  The AR Specialist minimizes financial risk to the organization and takes appropriate action to recover overdue payments in a timely and efficient manner. Effective communication and analytical skills are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes AR accounts greater than 31 days outstanding and initiate collections
  • Reconciles detailed AR accounts; review and process account adjustments and overpayment refunds in an efficient and timely manner
  • Run weekly open AR reports to monitor unpaid claims and adhere to collection productivity standards
  • Process claims appeals on a timely basis
  • Process re-invoicing of Pharmacy NCPDP, CMS 1500 and paper claims within each payer timely filing guidelines
  • Respond to detailed questions from patients and payers regarding claims or account status
  • Maintain payer and other support files.
  • Compile claims data and update logs, tracking and trending reports and communicate denial trends with urgency
  • Maintain current knowledge of all third-party and CMS reimbursement requirements.
  • Keep team informed regarding changes for all third- party and CMS billing in a timely manner.
  • Participate in all billing and collection related meetings to discuss new and on-going account resolution
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and manager

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • Excellent understanding of AR processes, third party payer and CMS regulations
  • Experience using medical /pharmacy billing software.
  • Experience working with multi-state Medicaid policies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience using CPR+,  ScriptMed  or other Pharmacy Billing Software


Additional Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed with ability to work with minimal supervision

Education

High School diploma or equivalent
