Job Description

McCree General Contractors and Architects is looking for a Staff Accountant to be a key member of the team’s Accounting Department. We work on a variety of construction projects and manage jobs from design to completion. The candidate will report directly to the Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

¨ Performs day to day transactional support and maintenance of general ledger accounts, among several divisions, departments and related     companies.

¨ Collaborates with Project Managers and Expeditors to prepare accurate and timely contract billings and invoices for construction and                design  projects.

¨ Organizes client job set up and billing parameters by specific contract terms.

¨ Analyzes job cost reports for correct cost code and reclassifies entries as needed.

¨ Works with subcontractors to receive and review the AP pay applications for payment by job, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

¨ Post cash receipts and maintain AR spreadsheet.

¨ Maintain related entity accounting records in QuickBooks.

¨ Record intercompany and adjusting journal entry transactions.

¨ Prepares supporting documentation for job cost audits and assists in a variety of account reconciliations and transaction postings.

¨ End of month related processes to include bank reconciliations.

¨ Assists in payroll functions and acts as liaison to field and office employees.

¨ Ability to prioritize work and multi-task in a deadline driven environment.

¨ Proficient in Excel with ability to build and manage spreadsheets.

¨ Analytical and logical thinker with ability to problem solve through given data.

¨ Maintains confidentiality of sensitive company information.

¨ Willing to work additional hours during peak times as needed.

¨ Assist with various projects and take on additional responsibilities as time permits.

¨ Objective and professional communicator in written, verbal and non-verbal form.

¨ Positive and productive attitude with a team oriented, goal focused drive.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Education and Experience:

Four year degree in Accounting / Finance or related specialty.

One year experience in construction industry.

Excellent computer skills including strong Timberline, Excel, QuickBooks, Word.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees in organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Authority:

Has the responsibility and authority to accomplish the specific duties previously described. The Accountant may not, without the express permission of the Controller sign applications for credit, divulge any information of a confidential nature to the company or of any employee of the company, or sign any contracts or incur any obligations on behalf of the company.

Technical Requirements:

Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None required.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position are limited to light lifting of record boxes, standing for filing needs, and keyboard activity. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Hours:

Must work a minimum of 40 hours per week and be available during normal office hours and job hours that may vary depending upon other established duties and responsibilities.
