Laborer / Solar Installer

McCarthy is excited to hire full time solar laborers/ solar installers for the construction of a new solar facility located in Battle Creek, MI beginning in June. This will be one of the largest renewable energy facility ever constructed in Michigan and offers future employees a chance to get in at the ground level. This is likely the first of many large scale renewable projects within the region and offers employees access to a new local emerging industry.

McCarthy is looking for team members that have a proven commitment to safety, are accustomed to working outdoors, and can be committed to a full-time schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean job site and shake out material to the field
• Bolt up clamps for solar panels
• Hoist torque tubes into position and align/secure torque tubes
• Set drive motors
• Install of dampeners and linkage between drive motors
• Set/install solar modules
• Tighten of bolts to the proper torque specifications
• Receive/stock materials and maintain accurate inventory
• Quality control for the scope of work
• Maintain tools used for installation in proper working condition
• Follow safety policies and procedures
• General cleanup of materials and debris

Qualifications

• Experience with construction projects preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used on solar construction projects
• Ability to perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of material weighing 50 pounds
• Ability to squat, crawl and work in awkward positions/confined spaces
• Unrestricted use of hands, arms, shoulders, upper/lower back, visual acuity, depth and color perception
• Proven commitment to safety and teamwork
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
• Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Must have reliable transportation to the job site
• Age 18+
• Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization
• Pay rate is determined on current level of knowledge and experience
