R&D Scientist - Acoustics

Maxxon not only started the industry but continues to lead it by applying years of experience and knowledge in flooring underlayments and acoustical sound technology to design and problem solve with architects and general contractors.
Maxxon Corporation is seeking to expand our Research and Development team with the addition of an experienced acoustician to support new product development, lead testing programs, and perform customer field support. A successful candidate will bring experience in acoustical and vibrational testing, especially as related to floor/ceiling assemblies and resilient floor goods. They will have a strong record of project leadership, management of competing priorities, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of teams.
+ Lead R&D projects for both new product development and to assess product performance in new floor/ceiling assembly designs.
+ Responsible for designing test programs and conducting both field and laboratory sound measurements on floor/ceiling assemblies.
+ Act as a Maxxon acoustical representative to the architectural and contractor communities, as well as provide technical support to the Regional Sales Managers.
+ Maintain database of sound test results, published test reports, and awareness of academic literature and competitive IP.
+ Represent Maxxon at acoustical conferences and industry meetings such as ASTM, ASA, NoiseCon.
Skills and Experience
+ A bachelor?s or a master?s degree in acoustics or a related field. (Master?s preferred.)
+ 3-5 years of experience in acoustical measurements and consulting.
+ Detailed understanding of building code acoustical requirements and standard field and laboratory test methods.
+ Ability to acquire, analyze, and report on noise and vibration data.
+ High degree of organization and detail in the collection and reporting of data.
+ Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
+ A passion to investigate and solve installations or construction displaying acoustical challenges.
+ Outstanding communications skills with the ability to influence scientific peers, customers, and management stakeholders.
+ Familiarity with basic statistics and measurements of variation, knowledge of formal Design of Experiments desired.
+ Understanding of laboratory acoustical testing, especially sample preparation and installation details desired.
+ Up to 20% domestic travel.
